Probably not a router problem, most likely an issue with skype (it can be problematic) or with your internet service provider.

Using a CAT5 cable, connect your computer to the router, disconnect the power supply from the router, and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Then reconnect the power cord, and open the browser on your computer. Type in the address www.routerlogin.net and press the enter key. This will take to the main setup menu. Set up the router as you wish. To secure your router connection, vist these websites: http://www.labnol.org/internet/secure-your-wireless-wifi-network/10549/ and http://www.practicallynetworked.com/support/wireless_secure.htm. SKYPE VIDEO PROBLEM

SKYPEVIDEO PROBLEM

To test if the WEBCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - your model WEBCam and see if you can get the WEBcam to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype video configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drops off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select your model WEBCam.

Also check the Audio Settings for your model microphone THEN click on Save.
Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub, connect it to the USB port on your computer.

When I am on Skype my microphone works then doesn't work. It is a logitech webcam/microphone.

I found this problem on my computer.
I had connected the Logitech into a USB hub then connected the hub to the computer's USB port. Then saved the configuration in Skype didn't work, every time I opened Skype I had to configure the microphone and video setting in Skype again.
The FIX. connected the Logitech direct into the computer's USB port and configured the Skype - Logitech microphone and video save settings. No more problems

One thing you can do make a video call to another user.
This will test your bandwidth capacity of sending video and receiving at the same time.
You can tell your partner to do the same test with another user.
I guess that your partner internet connection is slow. That is low bandwidth...
Check this
Also I would recommend to update with latest version of skype.

Voice delay and low picture pixels

The problem is lack of bandwith of the receiving signal from your daughter. The Skype server is located in the UK and all video and audio data signals go to and from the Skype UK server before it goes to you and your daughter. This lack of bandwith causes the video image to break up and a delays in audio just like a weak high definition signals to your digital television.
You can see your own video and hear your own audio from your WEB cam clearly, because the video and audio data does not have to go to the UK and back again, also your satillite connection is probably not as fast as a cable broadband connection. Your daughter may also experiencing the same video and audio problems.
Video data contains a lot more information than the audio data. Therefore there are a couple of things you can do to improve the situation :-
Get your daughter to and possible you as well (if she is also experiencing break up of video and audio), to reduce the video image size from 640X480 to 320X240 resolution.
If the video is still a problem then turn off the video all together and only communicate by audio, this will reduce the amount of data being transmitted and should give you a clear/clean audio.

Web camera mikomi 2mp with skype

usally a problem with a router firewall, the ports for skype to send video are being blocked.

3 solutions:

1. configure your router to forward the ports needed for skype to send video via the port forwarding page (check skypes manual for the ports needed)

2. Put your computers IP in the DMZ (check the manual for how to do this, it varies from router to router, please note your computer will be completely exposed the the internet if you do this)

3. change the portt settings in skype to a open port Tools>Options>Advanced>Connection
check the box for 443 and port 80
