Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

PS3 vs Toshiba 65" 65hm117

I will try to be as complete as possible.

Purchased the Toshiba 65hm117 TV. Works fin with my Tivo, my XBox 360 everything is fine through HDMI, Composite, and Color Stream HDMI

Now enters the PS3.
Plugged it into the TV and BOOM, electrical breaker blows, HDMI Cable is as hot as a pistol and has scorch marks.

Replace HDMI Cable.
Reset breaker, plug tv to ps3, then plug in PS3 to wall socket BOOM
electrical breaker blows, Wall Socket is scortched.

Call Electrician. He verifies that the the electical is proper, replaces scorched socket in wall. Agrees to put Amp meter on PS3.

He repeats step 2 gets same results. His meter measures a 30 amp surge hitting the 20 Amp service breaker for the house.

I take the PS3 back to the Retailer, get another unit.

Same exact results. Tried a Colorstreem HDMI cable, Same results, I try a normal Composite connection for lower res. Same Results.

I plug the PS3 into my Old Sony 36" regular TV. Works fine.

email to Sony about problem ---> Answer was that the order the cables are plugged in is not an issue, as I have described the issue there should be no problems, must be a TV problem.

E-mail to Toshiba about the problem ---> Answer was that the TV works fin with ALL of the other HDMI Colorstream and Composite items I have have hooked into it, the TV was designed to have all that working at thesame time. Problem has to be the PS3.

Both has replied that if I persist to try them together is will be a warranty snafu with neither side taking ownership.

1) Anyone else having simular problems?
2) Anyone know if there is a confirmed replication of these symptoms, if so, what is the fix?

I have a similiar problem. I hooked my PS3 to a toshiba 52" DLP via HDMI. Mine keeps blowing the HDMI cables up. I am on the 2nd HDMI cable that has blown. It is frustrating.

Sorry to here about your problem. I have a 65HM167 Toshiba tv which is the same as your model, and I have my PS3 connected HDMI with no problems. Try using a different brand HDMI cable and a different HDMI input on the tv if you have not already done so. Hope this does it for you, good luck.

HOW DO YOU HOOK AN XBOX 360 TO Emerson EWF2004 20

This TV has composite and S-video inputs (limiting you to SD outputs from the XBOX). Since the XBOX 360 only has an HDMI output, you will need the XBOX to composite AV cable. (There is also an XBOX to S-video cable.) This adapter is sold separately from the XBOX. has the composite video cable for $8 plus shipping here: . It will be more expensive at any retail electronics store.

The manual for the Emerson EWF2004 is available from Funai, which built the TV for the Emerson line, . The direct link to the manual is . Note: you need the original remote or a universal remote that has a Source or Input button (with the correct code) to change inputs. There is no Input button on the TV.

I hope this helps.

I have an xbox 360, but i have a ps3 connect to the tv via hdmi. i swapped the hdmi cable to the xbox and powered on. i had all the cables in the correct position, the correct av selected on the tv, but...

Have you tried disconnecting the HDMI cable from both the TV and the console and then trying to reconnect?

Y+RT does not reset controllers for the Xbox 360, so not sure what you are attempting there?

What type of TV do you have? It appears the issue is with either your cable or the TV seeing that you are having the same issue with both your PS3 and Xbox 360.

I still think your first step should be to disconnect all cables from both ends and reconnect. (with poer off of all sytems of course) If this doesn't solve your issue then submit further information on your setup such as TV make and model and I can research other possibilities.

The DVD drive on my 360 no longer works. Completely unresponsive and neither hitting the manual eject button or selecting it from the dashboard works. I purchased the Wal-mart Product Care Plan and was...

Have you updated you Xbox 360 dashboard to the latest one ?

If not then trying doing that first and check, if it works then it could have being a corrupt firmware issue, else it purely falls under hardware problem

Kindly contact walmart first to check if they can provide you a replacement in case you have brought your xbox 360 from them recently and your Xbox 360 is still under warranty.

Fixing hard drive problem by yourself is hard and it will void the warranty on your Xbox 360, the best thing would be to send it for repairs to MS support

Tivo HD displays ''hdmi connection not permitted''

This happened to me many times with my Sharp 40" LCD. I am actually running 2 tvs of of 1 HD Tivo. One in the bedroom with HDMI and then through the wall into my kitchen tv via Component. ( yes whatever is on in the bedroom plays in the kitchen).. So this AM my power dropped out for a few seconds then came back on. When the Tivo rebooted I got that " hdmi connection not permitted" message. In the past, I would just reboot everything and all would be ok.. But today I couldnt get the tv with the HDMI to display the programming. It would show the tivo menus, but when I tried to play anything or watch live tv, the message would pop up again. The kitchen TV with the components was working the whole time...
So finally I rebooted the Tivo one more time. But this time I left the HDMI cable unplugged from the Sharp in the bedroom untill the Tivo was fully booted and a live channel was playing in the kitchen. I then plugged the HDMI back into the bedroon TV, and it came back on. Im not saying this will work for you, But its worth a try

Lag between ps2, ps3 and LCD TV.

2 questions:
Are you using HDMI cable?
Have you tried your ps3 in any other HDTV?

Heres why I ask you this. PS3 has some compatibility issues with some TVs (or Tvs have it with ps3....that is controversial xD) so if you happen to be so unlucky to have bought an HDTV which ps3 has issues with, you`ll have a problem (as was my case)

In my case whenever I switch resolutions or enter a game the HDTV starts flashing between the ps3 screen and some blank screen with dots. I have to remove the hdmi cable and connect it again and it solves. :D

So please answer my 2 questions in order to discard some possibilities.
