Hi francisco
I`m going to help you with you tv but first;
Could you confirm that your tv is a hitachi P50S601?
In any case it does sound like a power supply problem.
Be waiting for your reply.

    O.k , as i said i would suspect the power supply to be the problem and you will need to take the back cover off to take a look.

    In your model there is two capacitors on the p.supply board that may go faulty.

    These are C552 and C553 and they are 3300 microfarads at 100 volts.

    Well they`re not very expensive 4 or 5$ a piece.

    Unfortunately they don`t always show signs like swollen or puffed up.

    These are the first parts i would try to replace in your case , but you have to keep in mind that there may be other problems that will require replacing parts and unless you feel comfortable with electronics i would suggest that perhaps you get an estimate from a local repair shop.

The blinking light signifies to a repair technician with capacitors or circuits are having an issue they can diagnose the problem via the amount of blinks in between pauses however it will require a technician and some specific tools and schematics to fix and it may be cheaper if its no longer under warranty to purchase a new one

Hope this helped

Tv is in stanby mode. when i turn on power it seems like it wants to start but nothing comes up on screen. stanby light is blinking

The problem is in the main board of the tv, it is either a power supply issue or a high voltage problem. In order to isolate you will need a tv tech to check the set out and cost involved.

Tv wont come on and a red light is blinking. I have a Sony Wide screen projection TV model kp-46wt520

Can you unplug the TV for about 15 seconds, and then plug back in and watch the stand-by light. Tell me how many time the stand-by light blinks in regular intervals. If it doesn't blink at all, you need to change a fuse on the g-board. Once this is done run back through the stand-by blink light process, and more troubleshooting can be done if problem isn't already solved. If the stand-by light just keeps blinking with a count over ten just tell me, and I'll look for other possibilities.

No picture blinking stand by light

I hve worked on a number of these units , your description is typical of a shorted blue picture tube. The protection circuits in the tv detect that there is a problem thus shutting the unit down to prevent further damage. Sony had a bad run of picture tubes in this series. The replacement cost of the tube is about $250 plus labor. My estimate would be for the repair about $400-500 depending on where you live and how honest your local technican is. I will caution you however, that you could replace this tube and the red or green could go. These would not be covered by the technicians warranty. When these sets are working, they have a superb picture and it is easy to get lured into fixing them. Scrivitron
