I've seen a few blogs that delt with this issue. Sometimes it was an incorrect cable hookup, and other times it seemed like a software issue. I found a blog about the right cables and hookup to an imac, and there may be some answers there that can help. See if you can verify that the contacts in both the computer and camera are good (not bent, broken, clean, etc.). If all's well with those, it could possibly be a loose ribbon cable inside the cam. Those can be reseated, but require a lot of disassembly (see YouTube for camcorder repair). Here is the link that I first referred to:

Good luck, hope this helps.

after I sow what you said about the computer wont see the firewire at all you should install the driver for firewire again in the computer ..for the bus itself cause it is disabled or missing driver ...so if you reinstall the iEEE1394 driver again it will work ..

Dear Darcopro,
First ensure that the problem is of firmware only.Try by reinstalling firmware again..... If problem persist, then there could be a problem of processor......... So get it serviced.

How to Export Movie from Final Cut Pro (FCP) to FLV?

After editing your own movies on Final Cut Pro or Final Cut Express, you may want to put them on your website for presenting your introduction or promoting your services/products. For users with the older version of FCP, FCE or iMovie, it is easy to export FLV by choosing File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion. However, if you could not find Flash FLV as output format from FCP/FCE/iMovie, you may need a FCP to FLV converter to get Flash videos.
Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac is the best FCP to FLV converter for you to handle videos on iMac/MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard or Leopard. The Mac FCP to FLV converter supports loading .3gp, .m4v, .avi, .dv, .flc, .mp4 videos from FCP/FCE/iMovie and converts FCP movies to FLV as short film. Below are the steps to export Final Cut Pro movie to FLV with Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Step 1. Load Final Cut Pro movies to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
After exporting movies from Final Cut Pro, run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the Mac FCP to FLV converter, and click the "Add" button to load FCP short films for conversion.
Step 2. Choose FLV output format.
Click the "Format" option and choose Flash Video > FLV-Flash Video Format(*.flv) as output format. This format is compatible to most machines.

Step 3. Transcode FCP movies to FLV.
Click the "Convert" button under the preview window, and the Mac FCP to FLV converter starts converting Final Cut Pro movies to FLV for playing on webpage.
Tips:
1. After converting Final Cut Pro movies to FLV, you need Flash players to navigate the video playback on webpage. You can use free web players like JW player, Moyea PlayBox player and Flow player to present your short films on website.
2. You can set the video resolution of the FLV videos by clicking the "Settings" before conversion.
3. The above step-by-step guide with Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac also works for the movies exported from Final Cut Express and iMovie. In other words, you can also convert FCE movies to FLV, iMovie videos to FLV on Mac OS X.

Getting a imac g5 all in one power pc 1.8 gb os x 10.3 computer. can i upgrade to snow leopard v 10.6.3 with disc ?

Unfortunately Snow Leopard requires a intel processor to work so the G5 imac will not be able to run the system.

Have been using the Z600 printer for a long time. Just got a new Imac with Snow Leopard. Neither the computer nor the printer want to talk to each other. Anything I can do?

The answer above is ****. I have been using my Lexmark 600 on a MacBook Pro for three years. But since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, it won't run the printer. Haven't found a solution as of yet.

I cannot use my AGFA SNAPSCAN 1236 with Snow Leopard

I had the same problem. Upgraded from G5 PowerPC Tiger OS to iMac Snow Leopard. Have a Snapscan 1236U (ScanWise) and got the same error message ("cannot find the current ColorSync System Profile"). Downloaded trial version of VueScan (www.hamrick.com) , scanner worked, so purchased the VueScan Professional Edition ($79.99) (Standard Version is $39.99). My scanner is now working GREAT!

I want to retrieve data from a Powerbook 3400c via ethernet. I have a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard and an iMac running OS10.4

I think the 3400c has a Firewire port, which would allow it to startup in "target disk mode" where it would be just like an external hard drive. That is, hold T at startup to get TDM. I have a Pismo with Firewire but I think the color 3400 is older.
With MacBooks and OS10.5 or later (you are at 10.6) you can do this with USB, also. So it might use the MacBook as the external drive of the PowerBook to transfer files in Finder.
Otherwise, you can turn on AppleShare on both and use Ethernet to transfer files slower.

SCSI to USB Cable or Converter for Astra 2400S Scanner?

You need a Firewire/ SCSI adapter. Mine is a Belkin F5U541. Then simply connect a SCSI cable from the scanner to the adapter & a Firewire cable from the adapter to your Mac. I'm using my old Umax Astra 2400S w/ a G5 iMac running OSX 10.6.7. I had to upgrade my old copy of VueScan, however, to run on Snow Leopard

Bought used iMac and need documentation for Leopard OS.

go to

manuals.info.apple.com/en/Welcome_to_Leopard.pdf

It gives you the basics. The support section on the apple website should help you as well also the help on Leopard is quite good. But if you want to get more information it is probably advisable to visit your local library or buy something like Dummies Guide to Leopard (Not Snow Leopard)

Importing Video to a Mac

XL2s are notorious for issues in interacting with final cut.
Simply put, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. But - there's a way around it.
Change the capture settings preset to 'non-controllable device'. Use the shuttle controls on top the handle of the XL2 to play back the footage as you wish. when you want to capture, click 'Capture Now' - It should do the trick.
