Hi there.. i had that problem too and i just solved it...
heres the thing..
first you go into the router setup page.. which is..
go to the gateway tab
go to port forwarding tab
go to config
thenTemplate --> custom
Name--> whatever
Port start--> 88
Port end-->88
LAN IP address--> check on your xbox on network settings and copy the same ip address.

After that.. you will do the same thing but on the port option you will put 3074. add it ..

Setup your IP addresses correctly by checking available IP addies in router.

You will have to know your router addie and your available wireless addies (in router). For this you need to enter router configuration (read manual).

Open network properties, tcp/ip properties, check "use following ip addie and enter something like depending on what your router is setup as available.

Enter same subnet as your router.

Enter DNS server addies from you ISP.

SOURCE: Unable to set up wireless router

Shut down your computer, unplug the cable modem and the switch. Connect all three - computer to switch, switch to modem. Make sure that the ethernet cable between the router and the modem is in the router uplink port and that the computer is plugged into one of the four ports that look alike. Wait 30 seconds - plug in the modem. Wait another 30 seconds, plug in the router, wait another 30 seconds and boot the computer. Open a browser and see if you have internet access. If you still don't, then try to check the browser by typing into the address bar of the browser. That should give you the browser sign in screen. The Linksys default is to leave the user name blank and type admin for the password. That should give you access to the router so you can check the settings. If this doesn't work, document carefully what happens and post again with your results and we'll try to go from there.

Can i connect to a wireless network like wifi without a cable network

Yes but you will still have some kind of computer sevicenetwork to receive the signal to the wiireless wifi..unless you have close neighbors who have the service and have their Wifi set for others to use...example stores and restaurants that have free WIFI where you are using their service..only in this case your neighbors..good luck..

How can I remove my neighbor from my network

Easiest thing to do, Change the password to your router. Once this is done, it will prevent your neighbor from any further access to your router and of course prevent internet access. Most all routers are simply a local web address for access. Example: typed inside a browser address pane will take you inside the router. Check your router for setup procedures.

Have a great night..

I seem to be stuck at 20mb downloads when im supposed to get 30mb from time warner

Have you called TW yet? They will probably say that the 30Mb is a "burst" speed. Since you are using a cable modem - your connection is pooled with those of your neighbors. If you live in a particularly busy neighborhood, your speed will suffer.

This could technically also be due to a faulty router or cable modem. Do you get full speed when connecting your cable modem directly to your computer?.

Try placing your laptop as close to the location of their router, removing barriers like walls for best speeds. Maybe your neighbour is having the same problem. Have them unplug the router for 10 sec (no more). Power-cycling once-a-month or so, is a good thing

Just having the wireless router without connecting it to cable modem or DSL modem will not allow you to get onto the Internet. The wireless card in your computer/laptop will allow you to get onto the Internet at a free public WiFi hot spot location such as McDonalds, Star Bucks, at the airport.
Also the wireless card in your computer/laptop may allow you to connect into an unsecured wireless router from your neighbors, if their wireless router is within range of your computer/laptop but without their permission to use their Internet, it is considered stealing from your neighbor. They have a set download limit from their Internet Service Provider and by you connecting to their ISP you may cause them to exceed their download limit and they would be charged additional costs for every Mega byte over their limit.

Im only recieving 1020 speed download, when should be atlwast 8

First, if you are connecting to the router with wireless, there are a couple of possible problems. If you are using Wireless B, you'll probably only get around 4 or 5 mbps at best, and even with wireless G, if you happen to have your router set to the same channel as your neighbor or several of your neighbors, it will slow down a LOT and could even have trouble staying connected. To check this, try plugging directly into your router and disabling the wireless on your computer temporarily and run this test again. If it is much better, try changing your wireless channel.

Second, I'm not familiar with this particular model of router, but I've found that many of the cheaper and/or older routers cannot handle the current speeds we see on cable and DSL connections. This could also be a problem with your cable or DSL connection. To check this, you can temporarily bypass your router and plug your modem directly into your computer. Remember this exposes your computer directly to the internet, so it's probably not a good idea to leave it that way. You may also have to reboot your modem and even reconfigure it and your computer to do this depending on your ISP. If it is still slow, you will need to contact your ISP and complain!

Do a wireless scan on your computer and out how many wireless access is in your neighborhood. More than likely that your router is sharing the same wireless channel number as your neighbor's. Go to your router and cheange to opposite of what your neighbor is on.

If you are using a router try lowering the the MTU on the router's configuration page the default is 1500, lower it down by 1492 if this doesn't resolve the problem try locking the WAN ports speed of your router to 10mbps or 100mbps.
