Start at one and a half turns, and then listen to your engine as you adjust in or out on the screws. Should be two screws, High, and Low speed. With the engine warmed up, make slow adjustments in, and out until the engine runs free, and easy, not sounding like it is bogging down.
Hope this helps.

MY SPARK PLUG FOULSALL THE TIME. BLACK SOOTY ON THE END OF THE PLUG.

Ok most likely cause for this is jetting (Carbi) and or the air / fuel mix screw set to rich - Well done for noticing though as no where near enough people read their spark plugs and make adjustments - they normally wait til bike don't work before researching?
Simplest and first option would be turn in your air/fuel mix screw quarter to half a turn in (clock wise) this leans the fuel mix slightly
Second option if still not helping from just screw adjustment is put the mix screw back to where it was before and change the pilot jet to a smaller size - the pilot jets have number stamped on them so once you have yours out look for the number and just buy new 1 or 2 sizes smaller (they only about $5 each) then of course go back to fine adjustments on your air/fuel mix screw to find the correct balance
You will very quickly know if your setting is to lean as result of adjustments as you will get back firing when rolling of the throttle if becomes to lean
jetting and air fuel mix adjustments can be annoying sometimes as you may need to go up a bit then down a bit then up again but take your time do very minor adjustments then check results and my tip is only ever change one thing at a time then record the change then test and record the result if you dont you will very quickly forget what you did, not know what to reverse if result was poor and if result was good you won't know exactly what made the improvement.
good luck mate regards Jamie

Where is my air/fuel mix on my 2001 Harley Davidson heritage classic softail classic?

It should be on the bottom of the carb. If it has never been adjusted before, there is a plug in the hole. You need to run a small self taping screw into the plug and then pull it out to access the mixture screw.

When I start my 10hp mercury outboard after priming it will run for a few seconds and then die. IF I push the throttle only button and rev it up before priming or set the low idle up higher and then prime...

Be sure to run the recommended fuel mix. most modern 2 stroke outboard engines run on 100 to 1, some times the mix is on a decal inside the cowl.

Cheers, Timo.

Have craftsman 36cc 16inch bar chainsaw will not idle need to know how to set idle screw

If you did nothing to the carburetor adjustments, are using a fresh (1.5 months or less) fuel mix with the same oil/fuel ratio, are operating at the same elevation, and the air filter is clean, there is a reason your saw is acting up.

The idle sdrew is usually separated fron the other 2 and probaly not fitted with an EPA limiter. HTH

How to adjust a 25ccd carb identify which needle is air or idle

Depending on it age and use, it is more likely needing the check valves in the Carb replaced. Carb rebuild is more inline for problem. Depending on carb use Walbro or Zama maybe one or two mix adjustment screws unless someone has already with the setup, it is best to leave them alone.

Most mixture screws are label L, H and some L and H. L screws are idle mix, H are Full throttle mix. L and H single screws are just a full mixture setting. H are adjusted for highest Rpm and then slightly CCW for a little richer blend and adjust L for best idle and acceleration.

If rebuilding the carb and you need to replace welch plugs because you removed them or they are badly rusted you will need special tools get them out and in without damaging the aluminum carb body. Don't bother them unless necessary.

Im trying to find the optimal settings for my two bbl carb

You will need a vacuum and Tach meter guage, when the highest vaccum/RPM reading is reached the air fuel is near perfect, make sure you start lean and slowly turn the mixture screws out ( or in depending on carb type) evenly, reset idle speed if ness, as it can increase allot. In order to meet emission tests and get better fuel economy I would lean each screw 1/4 turn from best vaccum/RPM setting. Also verify the ignition timing is correct before any adjustment is made and engine is at operating temp.

Removing the top of the 7901-1 Bissell Proheat

Unscrew the cap for the flow indicator, remove the 6 screws, the top will come off. When you put the top back on, make sure the piston is hooked on the smart mix knob(underneath the top cover) set the smart mix valve in the wtaer only setting, then put the top back on. Turn the smart mix valve to make sure it is turning like it should, then re-install the 6 screws and the flow indicator parts. (don't over tighten the screws)
