Have a Vizio brand LCD TV. Having similar issues. The volume becomes stuck both up and down. Removing batteries from remote doesn't change the problem. When using the side volume controls it will either get stuck going to maximum or minimum. Buttons don't seem to be depressed but if they are is there a way to unstick them that doesn't involve steps that could potentially be more harm then good. I would rather not damage the TV by noobish mistakes.

    Regards
    Chris

I have the exact same problem volume first went to minimum but started working after a while, then two days later I turned it on and the volume went to max with volume display staying on as if button is being pressed...46"LCD Samsung.

I have a Samsung LCD TV LN40A650 that has the exact problem. I got a new HD comcast/motorola cable box and this did not solve the problem. I tried new batteries in the remote and still have the problem. I put the remotes in a box in case the volume down signal was coming from the remote - and stil no luck.

Problem comes up within 10 minutes to a few hours of the tv being on.

Suspect bad IR sensor - TV is going back to store.

You didn't mention even using the remote. any way if it does not control even doing manualy or with remote control contact the dealer of you tv and discuss the problem. This could happen now a days LCD tv's has a program to operate. i suspended the program of your tv has reset.

Samsung le40r74bd problem

I just had this problem with my 3 year old 32" Samsung LCD. The volume would go up and down by itself, normally just constantly going up even when it reached 100%.

I thought it might have something to do with the volume buttons on the TV itself so seeing as it was out of warranty anyway I decided to unplug it and open it up.

I gave it a good clean and I disconnected the cable for the panel of buttons on the LCD itself (volume, menu, channel etc) seeing as I never use them anyway. I then put everything else back together and tested.

It seems to be working fine now. Previously (for the past 3 hours) ever time I turned it on the volume level would come on instantly and stay on until I turned the TV off. So I’m quietly confident the problem has been fixed. But I must admit it’s only been 10 minutes, so who knows, it might come back.

I had a similar problem, checked all of the TV's control settings only to find out that my cable box had an independent "mute" function that automatically turned on the closed captions when activated. Once I found that and turned it off, all was fine.

Samsung LCD Flat Screen TV LN-S2651D - Volume Problem

I lived with it for about six weeks, then took the back off the TV. Just now it seems to be fixed, but I don't know if it will last.

I disconnected the wire leading to the channel up/down, volume up/down and source board, turned on the tv, turned it back off, reconnected the cable, and everything seems fine now.

Same problem with my set. The volume was either fully up, or fully down (usually down), and other controls didn't work- like I couldn't access the menus and could not adjust the width of the screen/aspect ratio.
