RF267AARS Ice Maker issue. Producet is 15 months

RF267AARS Ice Maker issue. Producet is 15 months old. After 8 months, I heard a regualr popping nosie that occured every 3=4 seconds. This was so loud it woke me up in the night. The technician never told me what was worn, but since it was under warranty at the time, he simply replaced the icemaker. Now, this is happening again. For several houses this noise occured, even when ice maker turned off. Only now, after several more hours, it dropped ice and the noise stopped immediately prior to this. Is there something I can do to prevent? We don't use all the ice and try to clean it out on a regular basis, of course, I forget. Thank you. Carla Blomquist, Dallas, Tx

When it does this, is it in anyway a firehazard? It's stoped for now and I have the ice unit on, but I wouldn't want to take a chance when I'm away if there's any danger. I do think I remember the technician before mentioned gears. Thank you for your reply.

I seems the gears in the ice maker are hanging on each other because of wear or because it takes to much force to push the ice out that it's slipping the gear on the gear. Your diagram of your ice maker doesn't offer replacement parts so they just replace the ice maker.

There is not a fire hazard.

I have a Kenmore side by side model # 106.53609202 and its about 8 years old. About a month ago it stopped making ice. I've already replaced the water valve behind the fridge and waited 24 hours and...

OK, remove the cover on the face of the ice maker and let me know if the model look like this picture:
12_17_2011_1_36_01_am.jpgIf it looks like this model, I have the service manual for it with all the testing procedures. If it doesn't, see if you can get a model number off the unit. They make about 4 different model for this unit.

Ice maker line poped out of back and water line going to ice maker frozen

Sometimes over the winter months the tube going to the ice maker can become blocked with ice and cause this tube to pop out.

1. With the water supply going to your refrigerator on take a look at the end that popped out and see if you can see it drip at all. If it does not drip just clear the ice out of the ice maker fill tube, then replace the line that popped out and you will be good to go.

2. If you do see a drip come out of the end that popped out you will need to trace that line back to the valve its connected to and replace that valve.

Thanks for asking.

Kenmore hotspot ice gets stuck same spot

if the cubes are small the water valve may be bad. Also pop the cover off and see if there is a plastic tab laying loose in the cover . It should have 2 holding the center plastic gear on if only one is in the center the ice maker is bad. Also make sure to change your filter ever 6 to 8 months if you have one this will stop other problems.

Samsung rf267aars icemaker stops making ice, icemaker makes clicking noise.

unfortunately it sounds like you have a broken tooth on the drive or driven gear of the ice maker, in this case you should replace the ice maker. The good news is that you can get a new one for about 85 bucks at your local appliance parts store.

Two issues

Well here is How I fixed My French Door Ice Maker, It made the same loud crashing sounds, and seldom put out much ice. To the point that it made no ice at all.

First, Make sure you can get water out of the front, if not, your water lines may be clogged.

The second thing you can do is hit the secret RESET button on the upper front side of the ice maker. See my first image for it's location, it is a soft rubber button.

The third thing.. In my case the reset button worked for a little bit. But eventually stopped. I had to remove the ice maker, and found that that several rows of ice had gotten stuck. The swinging arm that smacks the ice out would just strip the gears banging that ice to no avail. So opening the ice maker up and cleaning it out helped. I also cleaned the sensor contact with some alcohol. It is a thin metal strip close to where the gearing housing is. This I believe is ultimately where the problem starts. It allows the trays to get overfilled, and the ice can't be released. Once I cleaned out the tray of stuck ice, cleaned the sensor, plugged it back in, and hit the reset button once more, It was making loads of ice once again. If this fails, you can get a complete new ice maker online, I found a vendor on eBay selling it for a reasonable $80. You can use my pictures to see how to disassemble for repair ore replacement. My fridge by the way is the RF267AARS.

the part number is: DA97-05554A

It works with the following refrigerators
Samsung RF267AABP Samsung RF267AABP/XAA Samsung RF267AARS Samsung RF267AARS/XAA Samsung RF267AASH/XAA Samsung RF267AAWP/XAA

Ice maker repair and still no ice

  • The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser . The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad,
  • or it could be the ice-maker itself.
  • Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees.
  • In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering.
  • Note: The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.
btw- you can replace the whole icemaker system for around  $115.00.
  • charging you $250 for a $20 drive motor is ridiculous! my 12 year old son can change the drive motor in 15 minutes.

Broken ice maker in a GE side by side refrigerator

Most of the time the spring just pops out of the keeper on the ice maker, If you push the feeler arm back and it does not come back out on its own then the spring has poped off. Look where the feeler arm attaches to the ice maker and there is a round spring between the feeler arm and the icemaker housing. There is one hole in the feeler arm ans one on the ice maker housing that the spring pops into. Its usually the spring is out of the hole on the ice maker housing.

Ice Maker does not work

My ice maker jams up once in awhile. I use a hair dryer aimed at the mechanism on high. Avoid close contact air flow directly on plastic parts. Takes 2 to 3 minutes. You will hear machanism pop several times, then wire raise up and drop.
