The touchscreen on my Dell Axim 51no longer works.
The touchscreen on my Dell Axim 51V no longer works. Can I buy the part to replace it, send it for repair, or is it just no longer worth it? It's never really worked properly anyway. I always had to take the battery out and put it back in to get it to turn on. I bought it in March of 2006 for a lot more money than what it costs today. My Blackberry works fine for me, lately the Dell was just so the grandkids could play the bubble game (which I am sure that is probably why it no longer works). It's never been reliable hence the reason the grandkids got it.

Musaji Ahmed Hariff, Your device has two slots located on the top of the unit. The larger slot supports CompactFlash Type II cards. The smaller slot supports Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, Secure Digital I/O (SDIO) cards, and the MultiMediaCard (MMC). All three memory card types are available in sizes from 64 MB to 1 GB or 2 GB. CompactFlash Cards Your device supports CompactFlash Type II cards. Some common types of cards include: • Modem - Connect a telephone line for modem data communication. • Wireless communication - Data communication without the use of cable connections. I believe Active Sync has been replaced by Windows Mobile Device Center for Vista. I'm not using my Axim any longer but was able to sync it using Windows Mobile Device Center. You should be able to download at : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/help/synchronize/device-center-download.mspx
please re-post the question in english because unfortunately i don't understand exactly the nature of the problem.
From what i get, i think you have a problem with the touchscreen allignment wich seems to be out of phase. This is mostly a hardware problem between the touchscreen controller and the motherboad. Also, a touchscreen has a finite life span and will loose accuracy over time and fail completely in the end. You should try a hard reset for your dell, (this will erase all the data stored on it and replace it with factory defaults). If this doesn't work, most probably the only way to save the device would be to have the touchscreen or lcd-touchscreen unit replaced in a service center.
I have the same problem. Its from an over sensitive switch. You arent actually opening the battery case you are pressing against it. This triggers the switch and makes it think you are taking the battery latch off. I haven't actually tried it but you could open up the Axim and cut the cable going to that sensor/switch?
Here are some photo's of the before & after showing where the sponge will be when your Dell PDA is faulty (not booting up or battery latch warning messages & where it needs to be repositioned to, the photo's should be self explanatory, I used some double sided tape to refix the sponge but super glue might work but don't blame me if it runs into the latch mechanize & gluing it up for ever, this does really work & better than messing about with the PCB. I have posted more details on this forum just search for the title ""Why do I get a battery latch open warning Axim x51v"
