Question about Nextar Q3 GPS Receiver

GPS locked up.

I left my problem on your FixYa page yesterday, Tuesday, March 25, 08. I have not as yet received a solution to my problem on your recent solutions. My problem was with my GPS, Q3-13, which seems to be locked up. I can't get it to do anything. Only shows the loading screen with partial red bar highlighted on loading bar.I can't get the menu or the on/off to respond either.The phone number for your customer service is not correct. Could you please email me your phone number? This product is still under warranty and I do not feel I should need to pay for tech support because of the warranty. dnoel@citlink.net. thank you

    I feel your Nextar GPS system is a good one. I used it frequently but when it locked up, it was not good to me. Maybe this problem
    could have been remedied thru a phone call or tech support but neither were satisfactory to me in my problem. The phone number for customer service was not a valid one and I could not get a hold of anyone.

    Exactly the same problem as many others here . . .

    Nextar Q3 GPS unit locks up after loading about 90%.

    Have tried energizing from dead battery, holding many buttons during loading, (power + menu gives an uninteractive USB screen, and locks up there) Nextar

    will not talk to me until it's registered. It's just out of warranty, and serial numbers are nowhere to be found.

    When it worked, I liked it fine.

    yup i have the same problem i just bought mine off e-bay and and when i called tech suport they just tell me i can't be helpd cause of where i bought it from. good job nextar

My problem has been remedied. I took the product back to the store and got my money back. I am sorry I had to do this but your tech support stinks. I did not think that I should have to pay for tech support on a product that was still under warranty. I did not purchase another Nextar due to the tech support. I will purchase another GPS system from another supplier.

Touch screen works intermitently


Have you tried a touch screen calibration? Here is the procedure:
Turn off your Nuvi. Then hold the upper left corner of the screen firmly while turning it back on.Release the power key when the Garmin screen appears.
I have attached a link to the owners manual which explains this procedure on page 41.

Sat nav is stuck on screen page for address, go to find address and then the page is locked at the keyboard,, want it to go to favoutites but there is no movement help need this for a trip tomorrow morning


after resetting ,goea through procedure of language ,left hand,time,but after testing voice selection then when tabbing select the screen freezes then eventually resets again

"Q: NOTICE for all US customers with M3 and Q4 series that have been having a problem recently with receiving a satellite signal.
A: Recently it has come to our attention that there has been a problem with a US GPS satellite, in the early morning of June 14 launch a sudden change in the code signal, leading to some GPS signal anomalies. It is told that the satellite signal should be running properly by June 22, 2009."

Hi, the DOT (Direction Of Travel) arrow will only appear on the Compass page when you are navigating.
  1. Go to the 'Main Menu'
  2. Select 'Find'
  3. Select 'Waypoints'
  4. Select a waypoint
  5. Select the 'Go TO' button
Once you are on the Compass page you should have the DOT arrow as long as you have a sat lock.

You might have just turned the volume all the way down. Page 4 of your manual tells you how to adjust your volume.
