I had this problem. If you like my solution please consider making a small contribution (e.g. 1$) to a charity of your choice.

For use on Windows Vista
Launch "Windows Photo Gallery", click on file and select "Import from camera or scanner". If your scanner is connected and powered up, your device(e.g Hp psc 1110) should be displayed in the "Scanners and Camera" section. Double click on your scanner in this window. A dialog box should be displayed. It will allow you to set scan characteristics and preview your scan. happy scanning !!

As far as i know "HP Director" has been replaced on Vista with the method described above.

I have a hp officejet 6110 all-in-one. I have recently hooked it up to a new computer. The printer and the fax seem to work fine but the scanner does not. Whenever I try to scan an error box appears...

Hi, HP site said Vista doesn't support these scan buttons. Must scan using Paint. What a pain. MS should be ashamed of themselves.

you have to download and install from here(XP 32bit) :

h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&product=79477&lang=en this :HP Officejet and PSC Full Feature Software and Driver

and this: Critical update to resolve an issue with HP Director after installing a new revision of Internet Explorer

The HP OfficeJet 6110 is actually a series of All-in-One Printers. Take a look at the following site (actually the HP (UK) site) and download the driver from that page. Hopefully, this will sort things out for you.

Hope it helps..

I have a HP 5550 SCANNER.And i bought a hp laptop with windows 7. but the scanner doesnt support windows 7. what can i do??

The basic driver for Vista may work. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=77362&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=77360 (select the appropriate version 32-bit or 64-bit)

Alternatively, try connecting the scanner to the computer and loading a generic WIA driver from the OS.

In either case, if they work, you will not be able to use the buttons on the scanner to launch scans. Instead use Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) or Paint (File > Import from Camera or Scanner) to acquire scans. (You can also acquire scans in Photo Gallery if you download and install that software from Microsoft. Alternatively, you can buy a third-party software for scanning and OCR.)

I hope this helps.

(I've gotten other older scanners to work with basic drivers; it's worth the shot even without the full-featured software.)

I WANT DRIVER OF SCANJET 2300C

HP has the drivers for several versions of the Windows OS. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=73502&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=73500

I hope this helps.

(note that the Vista driver is a basic driver and does not include the HP software so the buttons on the scanner will not work. You will need to use Paint, Photo Gallery or Windows Fax and Scan to acquire scans. In Paint, the command to launch will be File > From Camera or scanner. Win7 may allow similar functions with the generic OS driver but I can't tell if the driver is TWAIN or WIA or a different one not supported in Win7.)

No driver for Canoscan FB 630U Vista 64 bit

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Canon supports this scanner under Vista. Check if the Windows generic TWAIN scanner driver will work. The Canon software won't work. If the generic driver can be installed, then you should be able to acquire scans in Paint (File > Import from Scanner or Camera), Windows Fax and Scan (New Scan) (some versions of Vista) or Windows Photo Gallery (IIRC it works like Paint).

I hope this helps.

(Canon wants you to upgrade. I have a different scanner that isn't officially supported past XP and the generic driver works fine. Unfortunately, you can't just use the XP driver in the compatibility mode due to the lack of signed drivers that are required in the 64-bit OS)

How can I save a scan to my computer? I just got a printer/scanner and there are no Save, or Save As options in the HP scan software?? Help!!!

I would like to know the following, please get back to me
* HP Printer model
* Operating System
* Is the HP Software installed..

as a work around you can perform the steps below to save a scan in the computer.

Try to scan using one of the two methods below:

1. Scanning from Microsoft Paint:

Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, and then click Paint.
Click File and then click From Scanner or Camera.
If this option is not available, Please let me know.
If more than one image source is connected, select the
HP all-in-one product and click Next. The scanning software will appear.
Preview the image by selecting Preview, or click "Scan" to scan the image directly into Paint.
The image will open in paint for editing and/or saving.

2. Using Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

Click Start.

Click Control panel.

Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.

Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

I have upgraded to windows 7 but my scanner HP scanjet 5550c is not working

You can try the Vista driver, http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=77362&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=77360 . However, HP is not going to guarantee it will work. This driver is a basic scanner driver without the rest of the software that HP provided for the scanner. If that driver or the generic TWAIN or WIA Microsoft scanner driver works, you will be able to scan to any Win7 compatabile software. Windows Fax and Scan and Microsoft Paint are built-in options (and acquire scans in Paint: File, Scanner or Camera, in Fax and Scan: File, New, Scan).

I hope this helps.

Hp 3670 no longer scans to computer with vista 32 bit upgrade. Scanner will only scan out copies to printer. worked fine with windows xp

You can use Paint or a similar program to scan in a picture/document with your scanner.
Once in Paint you can select from Open the option of From Scanner.
You can change the size to fit the page in Paint and then save it to a file which can be opened and sent to a printer.
It's very basic, of course and it doesn't give you the options to set the scanner options usually found in the HP Toolbox.

How do you enlarge scanned images on a HP G3110 scanner?

Find the file you scanned and click on it.Windows picture and fax viewer will open it,bottom right corner is a picture with a paintbrush across it.Open it,and it will open in Paint. If you don't have paint, use http://www.gimp.org/
a Free photo editor.Right click your scanned image and in the pop up is "edit with Gimp"? I use this all the time to pick a "Window" out of a photo and enlarge or shrink it.Works for me!
