Question about Goldstar MV-1501 Microwave Oven
Using it the otherday it started making a humming noise & smells like something is burning (electrical smell). Tried taking apart a little, the smell is coming from where the blower pushes out the air. Thanks for any help on this issue!!!
It's probably the magnetron or high voltage transformer, but it may also be a failing high voltage diode.
Depending on the age of the unit, the magnetron may still be under a part warranty, but taking it apart would likely void that warranty.
If you think it might be under warranty, you should contact LG. For Goldstar / LG / L.G. help, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit http://www.lgservice.com.
If you decide to check it further yourself, we have a similar model's service manual on our site:
Bear in mind that the part numbers will not be the same for yours - you will have to call LG to get proper part numbers.
