Question about Nikon COOLPIX S230 Digital Camera

1 Answer

My camera (Nikon S203) isn't showing up in Nikon Transfer? I looked at the help section and made sure it was on and it is still not working. I don't know if this means anything but when I plug my camera in the picture on the screen goes away but the green light is still on.

Do what the pros do to avoid this very problem...use a card reader to download to a folder you create on the desktop. Once there, you can send the pics to iPhoto.

No, you can't. You are supposed to charge the LiIon battery with the wall charger that came with the camera.

Cannot transfer pictures from camera to My Pictures on harddrive

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

My nikon S203 screen broke. Where can I get it

You can replace it yourself, and save about $100. Here is the link for the part: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220596289186&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WVI7&GUID=6e39ba491280a0265297e447ffefba19&itemid=220596289186&ff4=263602_263622
There are videos on YouTube that show how to take the camera apart. Here is a good article that explains the process, in detail:

If you want someone to repair the camera for you, get an estimate first. Last time I checked, a repair shop wanted $125 (plus tax), so I got one for $25 on Ebay and replaced it myself. Good luck, hope this helps!

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive.
