Question about Frigidaire 24 in. FDB1050REC Stainless Steel Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Cycles improperly My dishwasher does not cycle properly. It races through the cycles, even when set to pots & pans, in about ten minutes. At first I thought it not filling properly, checked the fill switch, it's fine and water does come in. Then when it's finished it does not always drain completely. I have checked everything on the drain end as well. It seems to have a mind of it's own. I replaced the $145 computer control with no luck. It actually sped up from the original 16 minute full cycle to the now ten minute full cycle (start to finish). My next guess is the sensor that somehow monitors how clean the dishes are??? or the clock? which I thought was part of the computer control. I accidentally ordered the LED readout, which I guess is also the clock. I sent it back without trying it first, thinking the computer was the problem. The pump has plenty of power and drains with good velocity, but the wash cycle, although brief, does not seem to spin the arms. Any clues would be appreciated.

Long cycles

Hello Shawn, thank you for your question!

If your dishwasher is taking too long to complete a cycle, first you need to make sure the water is 120F at the sink. If water is less than 120F it causes a delay in the performance and advancement of the timer until proper water temperature is reached. Run the sink to its hottest point, start a "pots and pans wash cycle". If that cycle runs over 4 hours, then I recommend reaching out to a service technician since more than likely the issue lies with the control board. If it runs under 4 hours it is possibly fine, it is only heat delays causing it to run so long.

Hope this helps!

Hi there, can you put it through the pots and pans wash cycle , see if it works with that first ?

also the drainage pipe might be blocked making the normal cycles unusable.
you might need to get in a plumber or somebody that can unblock a pipe.

Hope this helps .

Soap not Disolving

possibly the water is not hot enough, it needs to be hooked up to a hot water line ONLY. also check to see what cycle the dishwasher is set at, there are three or four different settings. start off by using the pots and pans cycle because that cycle will delay the wash to superheat the water.
remember hot water only and water should be set at 120 degrees.
good luck to ya

Normal wash cycle is as follows..

Wash1 8 min
Rinse1 10 min

Rinse 12.5 min
Dry(hot or cool) 23.5 min

Total of 85 min

thats just a normal cycle. Pots and pan cycle is of course longer

Wash Cycle

Pot and pans takes like an hour to wash other than that it is probably a malfunction in front panel board or curcuit board in side door.

Stuck on wash cycle

Do you set your cycles by a manual timer or do you have a digital display? If a timer then it most likley bad or its stuck---if thats the case try wd40 behind it and see if it loosens,If your unit is digital then the control board is most likley bad,let me know.

Not enough water in tub

Mderford, on a normal fill, the water should be just above the filter screen. 1.8 gallons first fill, 1.7 on all other fills. Don't think it would be a siphoning problem as you are not having this on the pots/pans. Check the float, make sure it is not sticking. You can check the inlet valve filter screen to see if it is not plugged. Run it through the diagnostics cycle by pushing high temp-air dry-high temp-air dry. Some models it's heated dry-normal-heated dry-normal. It will run through a self test for about 20 minutes. See if any error codes come up. Fill time should be approx. 1:30 to 1:40 seconds. If any of the aformentioned doesn't turn up any results, then it's possibly a faulty fill valve drive circuit on the control itself...Catriver..post back.
