Power going in(all lights are blue) but screen is black

My daughter is in spain at university so the power source is different than US. Laptop suddenly started "blacking out" but might start to work normally a few days later. Now it won't turn on at all, she's in the middle of finals and needs to do another paper. Also if the power system is shot-- how do we get everything off the hard drive? Is there anyone in Barcelona she can take it to for an analysis/repair?

What I really need to know --is this an easy hardware problem that can be resolved by changing out the hp battery or some other hardware replacement part? Software fixes I can do.

Ok the thing to do is to, her to go to a local HP PC shop, and get a replacement power adapter, or you or she, could, go on eBay, and ship it directly to her, They make adapters for replacement, and are widely available, I am sure there is a HP representative in Barcelona, they have a large presence in Spain. The type of power Adapter is marked on the adapter itself, usually a DC Voltage, and a Current rating, Something like, say, 100-240 VAC - DC 23V 4.5 Amps., You can get ones with multiple changeable ends, so that it will fit the various devices,

Hi,

There are couple of software which can help you with the complete data recovery from your computer/hard drive, and the best part is the software is completely free of cost.

The software helped me as well last week in recovering few important photographs of mine which had got deleted.

Please click on the below mentioned link to get the free copy of the software, believe me this software is awesome.

Yes, the best part about the program is that even when the drive is formatted then also all the data can be recovered.

You can start by gettig your computer repaired/restored and once it is done just save this programme to your computer and start with the data restoration.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Please accept the solution if this has helped

Ok, for hardware changes I would suggest you couple of steps to see what exacty needs to be changed.

Please ask your daughter to do certain checks:

    1. Ask her to take out the battery out of the laptop try powering on the laptop directly with the power adapter, if nothing happens then it could be a faulty adapter.( Please ask her to check if any lights were blinking when she tried powering on).

    2. Ask her to put the battery back in and take out the power adapter, and then try powering it on, and see if it come up.If now it does come up then its a bettery problem. Again ask her to check for light on laptop.

    3. Now to see if there is a problem with the monitor, ask her to plug the laptop t a external monitor and try poweroing it on, if the other monitor turns on then the problem is with the laptop monitor and the screen needs to be changed.

If on all the scenarios nothing happens and the computer just blinks/or is dead it the power management that has failed and possibly the motherboard need to be replaced.

Keeping all the scenarios in mind, the data from the laptop can still be recovered by downloading the software at http://www.filehippo.com/download_recuva

Please accept the solution if the information has helped.

Screen black

Here's the test to determine which board is faulty. With the TV on, as usual, shine a flashlight on the screen to see if there is a faint picture. If there is, then the ballast board for the backlights is bad. If there is no visible picture, then the T-Con board is bad. HANNSpree monitor screen going blank. The screen dims after approximately 20 seconds and then 10 seconds later goes black. I still have a blue power LED. I have tried with two different machines running...

Sounds like either the inverter board is failing - or it may be the power to the inverter board. Look up your model# on eBay and you may get some insight as well as a source of parts.

No picture - blinking blue light. My daughter was

There are a few things you can check. First, try to see if the monitor cables are firmly connected on both sides (computer and monitor) no need to remove any cable for now just check the monitor cables (ends should be blue or white on both sides) Then check if you got an imput button on your screen (like all TV and some monitors now has) This input gives you the choice between a few possible connections and it may be on the wrong one. Just cycle trough the input modes and I think you will have your image back. If Still, you dont see anything, try a different monitor or try to connect your monitor on a different PC/laptop. In fact blinking blue could be there because the monitor is awaiting a signal on the input it's listening. At worst it could be because your video chip/card dont send a signal to your monitor, could happen, but imo it's probably not the case.

Hp dv9000 will not start up. blue lights are go

you get a black screen right, nothing at all then no bios, no logo, nothing at all?
Do you get any beep codes and if so in what order?
did you try different ram?
First try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. If it works, you screen is bad, if it doesn't you probably need a new motherboard.

I have the same problem. The next stage is that the picture won't come on at all and the blue light will constantly blink. I think the light source is bad. Noit sure though.
