I have a Dell Laptop with a C Drive and a D (data) drive. The C drive keeps filling up; I store pictures on the D, yet the C drive is still 88% filled. How can I transfer more files from the C drive to...

Clean your computer of Junk: temporary files, Internet explorer or firefox temp files, cookies, crash dumps. If your computer is running OK you may consider erasing all the restore points except the last ones. Run the windows cleaning of the C:Drive.
While you may be storing data on the D:drive, you may just have been copying them onto D but not removing them from C.
An do perform a defragmentation.

One of my 7K1000.C drives has extensive but minor corruption. I use QuickPar to make parity files in case of such corruption but I was quite upset to find 90% of my mp3s were damaged. Those which I had...

The best way to fix & prevent it would be to move everything off of it and wipe the drive clean and do a full format, not a quick format. The other thing could be, depending on what type of system you have and if its overclocked it can cause data corruption if the Pcie frequency is set above ~110. I have three of these without a single problem, with about 8,200, 8,080, and 5,400 hours on them.

I've got a Compaq Presario PC with a 40 G hard drive. The drive is at 99% full. How can I move some files to a new laptop I have with a 320 Gig hard drive? Joe C.

Any images, pictures, movies, or other personal files can be burned to a CD or DVD which can then be transferred to your new laptop.  Upon successful transfer, you may then safely delete the files from the full hard drive on your Presario.  Since your hard drive is so full, you may need to move files in small pieces since space is required to "burn" data to CD's or DVD's.  You can perform a "Disk Cleanup" which will delete files in Recycle Bin and Temporary Internet files.  To do this, Right-click on the Hard Drive, Click on Properties and click on the Disk Cleanup button.

A folder take too much time to open

Every folder in windows when "thumbnails" view is given saves file named "Thumbs.db" in which small photos are saved which for internal content, and also "desctop.ini" is saved in folder, sometimes some incorrect datas or very big ammount of information is saved in this file, try unhide hidden files and delete those two files manually, it will reset folder wiew and will become it faster. also you can create separate folder and move content in it and then delete old one but be careful dont use ctrl+a to mark all files, because it also copys those mentioned files and result will be same, you will still suffer from waiting folder to open, better to copy by drag and drop.

Vaio f650 partitioned hard drive

First try reducing your page File - then move the data - and then, potentially, increase the page file back again.

To change the Page File size, right click on My Computer, go to Properties - then the Advanced Tab, then click on Performance Settings, then Advanced Tab and Virtual Memory section - click the Change button - and reduce the size of the pagefile on the drive that you need space.

I keep getting a disc full message. I have cleared unused files and removed almost every program that I can see but still have almost no free space.

Try deleting some video files (they are usually huge). If that doesn't work, you could try compressing the disk (not recomended because affects performance) ore upgrading the hard drive.

Acer aspire 3610 with drive c(full) and drive d(empty)

Right click on My Documents and select Properties.
Select Move.
Navigate to your D: drive. Select the drive letter and then click "Make New Folder." Enter "My Documents" as the folder name and hit Enter and then OK. Windows will then ask you whether you want to move your documents. Click Yes.
All the space the My Documents folder was taking up on C: is now empty and you will notice no difference in the way you work. Anything that belongs in My Documents will now automatically go to My Documents on D:
Note: You may not want to do the next part if you need a lot of space for Pictures and Music.
To get even more space on C:, right click on My Computer and select Properties.
Click on the Advanced tab and then Settings in the Performance section.
In Performance Options click on the Advanced tab
In the Virtual Memory section click on Change
Select the D: drive and set it to be the same as the settings on C:
Now change the settings on C: to have a page file of 0
If you are someone who likes to keep old email on file, those files can also be moved.

My C drive full

Hi

You can move anything except system files and user settings. Before proceed further I suggest you to perform "Disk Clean Up" which is a simple application under accessories.

You can put iTunes files to the other drive. All documents and media files as well can be transferred and they will work without problem. Please post if you need further assistance

Good Luck

Drive Full After Backing-Up Just Under 4gb of Files

Are you trying to create one giant zip file or something similar? It sounds as if your Lacie 250gb hard drive has been formatted with a FAT32 filesystem and you are running into the maximum file size limit of 4gb minus 1 byte. Try just copying your files without using any compression utility or try reformatting your Lacie 250gb hard drive with the NTFS filesystem instead.
