Question about Facebook Social Network

1 Answer

Facebook sends an invitation to people in my e-mail contact list.

I have found that facebook will invite people in my e-mail contact list to join without my permission. This causes problems in that I have friends telling me why they can't join and I didn't even know I asked them to join. I would like to stop this embarrassing problem.

Make your e-mail private. by going to "account" on upper right side of page. click "account settings". Then on privacy, Click "manage." Then click "Contact information." On your email which should be at the bottom Click on tab to the right. Click "only friends can see your email". If you are worried maybe one of people you are friends or fan page may be giving out your email. go to "custom" and click "just me" That way no one sees your email address.

How can i get my facebook account back

Okay.... from the looks of it, your account was locked. Locked becos someone might've reported your timeline as 'a gamer' [which, am not sure if ya know, sends game invites to your Friends -- which are just too annoying to some].

Here's a tip. If ever you managed to get back to your locked account, refrain from sending game invites. Those game apps you play, you might not be aware of it, send out game invites to your friends in your behalf. Please stop doing it, ok?

Connect aFacebook & Yahoo Account
One of Facebook's most convenient features is the ability to import contacts from any number of email programs to add your friends.
Yahoo Mail is one of the many services featuring built-in support for adding Facebook contacts, and connecting your accounts can be a quick, simple procedure.

Go to Facebook (facebook.com) and sign into your account.
Click on "Find Friends" in the top right corner of the screen.

Click on "Yahoo."
Enter your Yahoo Mail email address and click on "Find Friends."
Enter your Yahoo Mail log-in information if you aren't already signed into your Yahoo Mail in another window or browser tab.
Select the friends you wish to add to your Facebook from the list of contacts who already have signed up with Facebook and click "Add Friends."
Select the contacts you wish to send Facebook invites to from the list of contacts who have yet to sign up with Facebook and click "Send Invites."

My e-mail has been compromised. I have different companies sending their information to everyone in my contacts. How can I fix this?

Hi Lindalabusch

Unfortunately this is one of the signs of the unscrupulous times we live in.

This kind of infection is usually spread by miscreants sending random e-mails out to long strings of e-mail addresses. These rogue e-mails contain small programs called 'mailbots' or 'spybots', whose only function is to scan a user's contacts list and perpetuate the infection by send copies of themselves to everyone in the contacts list. The ultimate aim of these mailbots or spybots is to turn each successfully infected computer into an automated, remote, Spam Server that sends streams of often unsavoury, unsolicited advertising to everyone in the user's contacts list. In this way, the originators widen the ambit of their marketing reach by arithmetic progression, while keeping the location of their own servers relatively hidden.

The only option to you, I am afraid, is to save your contacts list, delete all your contacts from the previous account, open a new e-mail account, e-mail all your contacts simultaneously (apologizing for the intrusion and explaining the circumstances), to advise them to be vigilant for similar threats and, of course, inform them of your new e-mail address.

A few simple precautions to prevent further infections of your new e-mail account:

Never click on any links or attachments in e-mails from people you don't know.
Never complete any online Surveys.
Never reply to any unsolicited e-mail from people or organisations you don't know and trust.
Do not accept invitations to join Social networks unless you know and fully trust the inviter.
If possible, avoid even opening e-mails from people or organisations you don't know (genuine, communicators with a valid reason to contact you will have and use other means of contacting you if you don't recognize or failed to reply to their e-mails).

Maintain the old e-mail address for archive purposes, so you can refer to old e-mails there if needs be.

I hope this helps.

How do u unblock people on facebook?

Go to facebook, on the right top under Account select Privacy Settings. At the bottom of the privacy page you'll see 'Block List'. Remove the friend that you blocked by clicking on 'remove'.
The above steps won't add the person as your friend. You should either send an invite or have your friend send an invite and that's how you get connected back.
Hope this helps.

I recently added to email contacts to my file Yahoo file. I've been getting messages from Yahoo that 2 of them have added me to their "updates". I have never contacted these people and don't intend to!!!...

This unfortunately a common situation when you use Hotmail,
Sorry to hear about your delicate situation...
If you use Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo mail: some no-gooders will search those public emails listings and randomly but systematically try to add you to their updates list and invite you to do so without knowing you at all and usually for no-good purposes and spamming!
Just delete their invitations and report them as spammers when declining their invitations to join.
Hope I have explained the situation and reduced your concerns a bit.

How to import contact to yahoo

As the import contacts tab in yahoo messenger does not have the 'facebook ' option you have to do this the round about way via yahoo mail. You have to first import the facebook contacts to the yahoo mail application ( not the chat/messenger application). This can be done by following the guide in the link below :
http://www.tothepc.com/archives/import-facebook-gmail-contacts-to-yahoo-mail/
Your yahoo mail will now have the facebook contact addresses

After you have done this you can go to Yahoo Chat Messenger Menu - Contacts - Import Contacts - 'Select the accounts below where your accounts are stored' - click on 'Yahoo mail / Address book ' - then click on continue .
This will send chat invitations to your contacts in facebook and they will get added to your messenger buddy as per permissions given by the facebook contacts.

How do I create a list of contact to send a group email? For instance a list of all my girlfriends from high school.

If you just want to send them emails, click on "friends" near the top on the left side of the home screen. Once there, you will see a button for "create new list." One thing to remember though, you can only create lists of your friends. Another idea would be to start a group. Groups are in your app bookmarks and you can just follow the instructions provided to set up the group. From there you can send invites to join to anyone, even if they are not your friends, or do not have Facebook accounts. Then, once people have joined the group, you can send mass emails, or updates to their Facebook inboxes (and other email, depending on their own personal preferences and settings).

Good luck with that. Come back if you have more questions.
Thanks!
