Did you ensure the chain brake is disengaged? Grasp the forward most upper handle (hand guard) and move it toward the nose of the bar (forward). Did it click? If no the brake is engaged. Move it slowly aft (it may require some force at the rear extreme to latch) until it clicks. Wear gloves and try to rotate the chain. If it latched and you still cannot rotate the chain please post back (below), and we will explore further.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Chian on saw heating up and no cuting wood properly

Andy it sounds silly but you need to put oil in the saw for it to cut properly and to stop it heating up. It sounds like the chain is also now blunt . Also check that the chain is on the right way and going with the teeth facing forward. If the chain is blunt you will need a new one.

My saw simply will not pump chain oil. Iv'e run it with the bar and chain off and the pump works.Put it back together and nothing. Before reinstalling the bar I blew the saw clean. I had a Sears Poulin a...

Check that the bar oil ports are clean; there should be a small hole or slot on each side of the bar and these can become pluged with sawdust. Also clean the groove in the bar with a small screwdriver or bar cleaning tool every 8 hrs of operation.

If this does not fix the problem check the oil sump screen in the oil tank(usually on the end of a rubber hose); if no screen in tank: remove oil pump and clean(screen is sometimes in oil pump assembly).

Installing recoil spring for Poulin P3314

Recoil Spring Rewind
I invert and secure the housing and rewind the spring large coil to small (need eye protection, both hands and no women around work area!). I'm right handed so I tension the spring enough to insert it inside the previous coil while holding what has already been installed with my left about 180° from my right hand. The tension will hold the spring in the housing once completely inserted. Then bend slightly the inner most part to engage the starter spool. It will require about 2 turns of pretension for it to retract properly.
If you're lucky you can pull the cord out enough for a pretension then slightly raise and add the withdrawn cord to the spool. HTH
