Question about Actiontec Computers & Internet
I had a Motorola 3477 modem that was giving me intermediate wireless internet connection. I had it set up so my mac was wireless, and then I ran a Ethernet out of it to my xbox, using my mac as a router. Xbox Live worked fine except for the random intermittent connection losses. So I called qwest and they sent me a PK5000. I installed it and got it all up and running but now Xbox live will not work. I set my mac and xbox up via these directions http://www.ofzenandcomputing.com/zanswers/358
which worked fine with the other modem... which makes me think i need to change settings in the modem.

SOURCE: xbox live via cricket wireless
I can connect to XBox Live through this fashion on my Cricket Modem:
Now, I have had problems with this fix running Windows 7 (still can't get it to work), but I didn't have any struggles with XP or Vista.
You need to go into Manage Network Connections, right click on your Cricket Modem, and select Properties.
Click the Share Tab, and click it so it allows other users to connect through that network connection. Now, go to the Networking tab under Properties and right click on the Internet Protocol Version 6 and make sure it is automatically assigning both DNS and the 6 IP, Apply.
Next do the same with the TCP/IPV4 section under Networking, make sure everthing is automaticaly assigning.
Click on the Router and make sure that it is automatically assigning the Internet Protocol 4 and 6. Now click diagnos, and it should reset the router, automatically apply the correct settings, and bam. You SHOULD be able to connect with XBox Live.
I have no problems with this with Vista and XP, as I stated before. But now my main computer is running the 7 RC and I can't figure the darn thing out yet. So I figured out a cute solution. I took my Dell Mini, connected the Cricket Modem to it, and ran an ethernet cord from the XBox to the Mini.
Pretty much same solution after that, only instead of selecting your router, you select the LAN connection that is not your Cricket. For me itassigns the XBox as LAN and the Cricket as LAN2.
Let's see how it goes. :)
