Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Just recently had the lamp/module replaced. (fan #2 was going) Worked great for a week. I turned the TV on and now the screen was just showing vertical (approx. 1 1/2 inch) lines, every other bar is black/multi colored, for the width of the screen? I do have the extended warrenty--which I used for the fan/lamp problem. Have put in a call again, but, alas, it is like pulling teeth to have someone call back. It has been over one week and have not talked to a service man yet!!!! Was wondering if it is something that I might be able to fix???? Model HLN437WX/XAA

Forgive me, but I don't know how to post an response. I hope that this is the proper place to answer troylove11. Here goes--Sorry I didn't respond. I am so new to this, but I did receive a reply via email from Mr Jangro and sent my thanks to him.

Repair man came again and declared that the part he had replaced was defective. Never occured to me that the parts used are refurbished--silly me for thinking they would have new!!!

    Thanks for your time.

Toshiba 56hm66, lamp replaced but lights still blink

Check the circuit boards to see if any have failed. They are small cylindrical objects. If the tops of any of these are bulged instead of flat then they are bad and board will have to be replaced. Hope this helps.

It could be that a cooling fan is not operating correctly, allowing the unit to over heat, or the power supply board could be failing. I would remove lower rear cover and see if fan(s) are turning.

2 things will cause this Lamp is defective, or Fan to lamp quits running this will shut TV OFF, if the fan quits running while Lamp is on it is design to shut Lamp Off to prevent Damage to Lamp IF Fans are ok It will be the Ballast board It is what turns Lamp on.Look on E-Bay for Ballast board if it turns out thats what you need or call Encompasss Electronics 1-800-638-3328

Turns on and off green LED flashes until TV turns back on.

this is a symptom of a bad lamp. for some reason it won't spit out a lamp error. shaking up the lamp will sometimes fix temporarily but you will find replacing to be the answer. if your tv has a fan error, you will get 4 red blinks.

Mitsubishi WD-62827---PICTURE TURNS GREEN

I had the same problem. I deducted that if my TV worked fine for an hour or so and then the colors became bad (green, people's faces purple...), it must be a overheating problem. Simple logic, right? So, I picked up a few tools and a small vaccum and went to work.
I went first for the main source of heat: The lamp. Just a few screws, and I removed it. The lamp cage has a fine screen to prevent the dust to cover the lamp. Mine was covered with dust! And the fan behind the lamp was also covered with dust! Bingo!!! That's my problem! I cleaned everything and vaccumed all the air vents on the the back of the TV. I put the lamp back and checked that the fan was working. The TV works like new since!
Before you are out of a TV for days and spend an arm and a leg for a "Technician" to fix it (replacing expensive parts that didn't need to be replaced in the first place), try what I described above first. It's very simple and it takes only 15 minutes.
Since my TV is 2 1/2 years old, I purchased a replacement lamp. I know that one of these days it will burn out. I'll be ready and my TV will be working again in 15 minutes!
Since my problem was solved, I didn't go to the next step. There must be one or two other cooling fans inside the TV, but they must be working...
Good luck,
