Hello,

  1. urn the laptop over. Position your laptop in the direction so that the Toshiba label, on the bottom of the hard panel, is facing you. Your Toshiba label is positioned correctly if it is positioned on the upper-left side of the external hard panel. Remove the battery pack from the bottom your Toshiba laptop to be sure it is powered off.
  2. Step 2 Remove your laptop's external hard panel. This panel is the external plastic layer on the back of your computer to cover and protect your computer's most important hardware components. The screws you need to remove are located on the four outermost corners of the bottom of your laptop. Follow the chart guide listed in Tips for screw and screw driver compatibility and removal. Distance your screws from your workstation to avoid mixing them up and/or losing them.
  3. Step 3 Locate your hard drive panel drawer door when you have totally removed the external hard panel. It is located where the smaller door in the bottom-right panel was before your removed the external hard panel. Your hard drive will be locked into this specific drawer door and the computer itself. Completely unlock the hard drive and remove the drawer from your laptop.
  4. Step 4 Remove the entire hard drive from the drawer door. Hold the hard drive on all sides to ensure that you do not drop it. Place the removed hard drive in an enclosure area to avoid damage of any kind.
Place the new hard drive in and put it back up.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thanks.

    hello,

if you already had install a hard drive its not install correctly

Restart your laptop and follow the instructions in your owner's manual
to enter your system's BIOS. If the new hard drive is installed
properly, it will be recognized by the BIOS.

    Step to Get to bios

Power up your system and press
    the delete key during

the DOS memory check to access your computers BIOS settings.
    Select

the hard disk detection menu item. You should see your
    current C:

drive settings under the primary hard drive master. Write
    these down

on a piece of paper for safe keeping and do not change them.

Go on to the configuration of the primary hard
    drive

slave. Your BIOS should auto detect your new hard drive and
    give you

its settings. If the BIOS correctly detects your drive it
    should report

the drives capacity correctly. If it does not detect your
    drive, you

will have to manually enter the correct settings for your
    drive which

includes the number of cylinders, heads, and sector of your
    drive.

Write down these settings and save them in case your BIOS is
    ever

    corrupted.

Once your hard drive is configured, exit the
    hard drive

configuration area and select the main BIOS configuration
    menu item.

Make sure your BIOS is configured to boot off of the A:
    drive first.

Save your BIOS settings (press the F10 key and type "Y")

    and the computer will reboot.

How to Reload WIndows on a New Hard Drive?

You don't need to remove a hard drive to install a new operating system. You need an operating system reinstallation disc to do that. You can find a lot of tutorials on how to install windows 7 in youtube.

Hi, Maxtor 90645D3 hardrive deletion manual jumpersettings.

Basic jumper settings for Maxtor ATA Hard Drives

Thank you for purchasing your new ATA hard drive from Other World Computing! Please

review these jumper settings prior to installing your new hard drive into your computer.

You may want to review more detailed information about the installation process, or

the location and configuration of your existing internal ATA drive before proceeding.

Your manual that came with your computer can be of assistance in both of these

determinations.

A few notes about installing an ATA hard drive into your existing system:

Your existing drive is normally configured one of two ways, Master (single drive), or

Cable Select. You will want to determine this before installing your new drive, the easiest

way is to remove the existing drive from your system and visually inspect it's hard drive

jumpers. Most hard drives have a schematic either silk screened onto the case of the

drive, or the schematic is on a label near the jumper pins. If you have difficulty locating

this information, visit the hard drive manufacturer's website.

If your existing hard drive is configured as "Master", then set your new hard drive

to "Slave". If your existing drive is set for "Cable Select", then set your new drive to

"Cable Select" also. You can change the existing jumper settings on the original drive

to suit your needs, but we recommend following these instructions first to verify proper

operation of the new hard drive.

Installing jumpers on the new drive is a simple process, follow the schematic to

configure your drive.

Please note the configuration of

the internal ATA cable already

installed in your existing system.

If your internal cable is configured

differently than pictured here,

you may want to replace it before

installing a new hard drive to

achieve maximum performance.

I have a dell latitude E6400 that will not reboot. Can I buy a new hard drive for it....will that work..............

Hello
you dont need to buy new hard drive until you confirmed that your hard drive has no more, for the purpose you need check in CMOS setup, if it is detected by computer then there is a chance to re-use the hard disk, you just need to re-install windows, during installation format the hard disk after re-partition.
if this method fails then you need to buy new one, good luck
do rate the solution if got help

Have a HP SR1010V, 33GB HD - XP Home. Want to 1) replace HD with a 100-200GB HD OR 2) ADD a 100-200GB HD and 3) ADD a DVD drive. What is best way to copy data to a new HD and to boot the new HD. Rather...

The easiest route would be to install the new hard drive in place of the old hard drive and place the old hard drive below the new hard drive and make it a secondary hard drive or slave drive. Once you have them installed this way you can install Windows XP Home to the new hard drive once you have it installed to the hard drive then you can copy everything from your old hard drive to the new one. Once you have everything copied from the old hard drive you can then format it within Windows to have 33GBs of space to store anything you wish. If you need more detailed instructions don't hesitate to reply.

Sir, Good day! How to reformat my hardrive toshiba dynabook without dvd drive

You'll need to remove your hard drive, hook it up to another computer via a USB to Hard Drive adapter and use the operating system of the other computer to reformat the hard drive. This will only reformat the hard drive, not install a new OS. To install a new OS you'll need a DVD-ROM and OS installation disc, or a flash drive with an OS installer on it to install from the flash drive.

I have a PC Dell Dimension 2400 with a hard 40 GB

Basically when you install a new boot drive you need to install Windows operating system on the new hard drive, also the device drivers (eg video, audio, modem, LAN etc), your programs and data. The reason programs has to be installed is because the installation process copied DLL files to the System folders and makes changes to the registry.
You can only copy your data onto the new hard disk.
To avoid copying your data to the new hard drive, you can set up the old hard drive as second hard drive (ie. slave drive), if you delete the redundant folders and leave only the data folders then you have an adddition 40Gb of disk space.
