Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

My stove does not maintain a consistent

I have a kitchenaid superba stove that does not maintain a consistent temperature in the oven. Sometimes it is off by 25 or more degrees but I can't adjust for that because it isn't consistently off by the same amount. I have used two thermometers at a time to make sure it wasn't the thermometer that was off. My baking is really suffering and I have no manual as the stove was here when I moved in. Any suggestions?? thanks

Hi,
This is most common with electric ovens and the bottom element goning bad...but I will also include the most common problem for gas ovens also when this happens, as you did not specify which you have...

If your electricmy stove does not maintain a consistent - 2_bing.gif oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself...
Check out this tip that I wrote about the Oven not heating problem..

If you have a gas oven...
The ignitor is not working right and is going bad....
have the repair man replace the ignitor, or DIY....

Short circuit detected; oven temperature sensor. Check sensor for normal room temperature resistance (1085-1097 ohms at 75 degrees F). Check wires between electronic range control (also called clock or ERC) and sensor.

VOTE FOR ME IF THIS HELPED.

Replace sensor if other components check normal. Replace electronic range control (also called clock or ERC) if fail code reoccurs

The oven will not reach desired temperature. Had

it sounds like you have a bad temperature controller thermostat or your temperature sensor inside the oven, (a metal rod attached to a thin metal wire) is not in its proper place. It clips into connectors located at the back center of the oven itself.

Kitchenaid superba stove

Control Lock
The Control Lock shuts down the control panel pads to prevent
unintended use of the oven. The Control Lock is preset off;
however, it can be enabled.
When the control is locked, only the TIMER SET/START and
TIMER CANCEL pads will function.
The Control Lock is preset unlocked, but can be locked.
Before locking, make sure the oven, the Timer and Timed Cooking
are off.
To Lock:
1.
Open the oven door.
2. Press and hold the number pad 3 CONTROL LOCK for 5
seconds.
A single tone will sound and “START?” will appear on the
display.
3. Press START. “CONTROL LOCK” and a picture of a lock will
appear on the display.

To Unlock:
1.
Open the oven door.
2. Press and hold the number pad 3 CONTROL LOCK for 5
seconds.
A single tone will sound and “CONTROL LOCK” and a picture
of a lock will disappear from the display.
