The size is not an issue with the hardware normally. Usually it has to do with the operating system. If you are running an OS like windows xp you should have no problem.

Just make sure you are using the SAME type interface hard drive. Example PATA Parallel ATA, or Serial ATA (SATA).

  • If installing an additional drive, make sure that your PC has at least one additional drive bay. Many HP and Compaq desktop PCs only have one drive bay and it is already in use. For these PCs the only option is to upgrade the hard drive.
  • Make sure the motherboard in the PC can support the type of drive that you want to install. The most compatible drives are IDE, followed by Utra-IDE (EIDE), and then Serial ATA (SATA).
  • If you want to add an additional hard drive to the PC, you probably should upgrade the power supply as well. Especially if additional components like memory or a CD or DVD drive were also added.
  • If adding an IDE drive to a PC that already contains an IDE hard drive, you may need an IDE cable that has three connectors. Some HP and Compaq PCs use IDE cables that contain only two connectors, one for the motherboard connection and one for the back of one drive.
  • If you are replacing a drive, get a recovery disc set for your exact model of PC.
  • If you are installing new drive, you will need recovery discs to format the new hard drive.
  • Get a Phillips screwdriver and a medium flat-blade screwdriver.
  • HP strongly recommends the use of an anti-static wrist strap and a conductive foam pad when working on the computer.
  • Find a clear, flat, stable work surface over a non-carpeted floor.

You can install whatever size you want, as long as it's an IDE disk , otherwise you will have to buy a separate PCI SATA card in which you would be able to plug in a SATA disk.

Hello, we have a HP desktop 6736 hard drive - does it have wireless capabilities

Here is a link to the HP Online Support page for your model of PC:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=120&prodSeriesId=46136&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=46136&objectID=bph06111

As you can see from the specs listed there, your model did not include a wireless card from the factory.

Adding one yourself though is quite easy.

You can get an actual wireless card that you plug into an empty slot in your motherboard (inside the case of the computer) which requires a small amount of screwdriver work.

Or you can buy a Wireless USB Adapter which is a small device the size of your thumb which plugs into any USB port on your computer. These are very easy to install, just insert the CD which comes with the unit, run the installer program on it and follow its instructions. Then just plug the adapter into any open USB port on your computer when it tells you to. Thats pretty much it.

The USB adapter is good because you can move it easily from one computer to another if you want without having to open up the computer case.

Anyway good luck and please comment back and rate if this was helpful at all.

Why does my computer shut off by itself? it is a hp pavilion a305 pc desktop. we tried cleaning all the dust out but it didn't help

HP skimps on powers supplies which causes them to run at near-capacity and eventually fail. That case should accept a standard ATX supply but if buying on eBay (suggested-lots cheaper) check with seller for compatibility. Do NOT replace the old supply with the same power rating; choose one with 50% or greater capacity; i.e. replace 250W with 350-400W. It won't cost hardly any premium or use more power, just run under less stress.

My hp pavilion 6736 computer keeps restarting when it gets to the os loading screen ... how do i fix it

It is probably getting a stop error and automatically restarting. You can stop this by hitting F8 rapidly after you power on. If you do it properly you'll get a black and white screen. One of the options is:
    • Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure
    Choose that one.
Now when you get an error, the system won't reboot and you can find out what is causing your failure.

Can I replace orig hp ze1115 20GB hd w/60GB hd?

No the bios should be able to read the drive fine. The problem could be with the computer's motherboard. You should check to see if the original drive and new drive is detected in another system. Or you can try accessing them via an external casing / adapter.

Need to install a new hard drive on a HP Pavilion 6736..Is there a upper limit to the hard drive capacity ?..The original disk is only 20 GB..Thanks

in most PCs the MB and cables inside will have provision to add

    2 HDDs
    2 Drives (CD or DVD)
    1 floppy drive(now it's obsolete)

in a IDE system the data cables inside will be aprox 3 inch wide and the MB will have 2 IDE slots to fix the cables....
in a SATA system the data cables inside will be aprox 1 inch wide and the MB will have 4 SATA slots to fix the cables....from 2 HDD and 2 Disk Drives....

you should know how to install a new HD and make it primary or slave depending on which HD has your OS...
google and find more details on that...

Yes you can install a 20 Gb hard drive but I doubt you can buy a new one with that small capacity. The smallest capacity hard drives are approx. 80 to 100 Gb or greater.
You most likely can buy a 2nd hand drive but you don't know its quality, it may have had a hard working life and you don't know how long it will last, but then, if is very cheap that may not be a problem.
