Hi dml89,
Just be careful during installation because improperly handled or attached memory module may not function. Aside from your extra memory modules you'll need a screwdriver to remove the cover of your computer case. Read on the tips I have below that will be helpful for you.
1. Dispel any buildup of static electricity on your body by grounding yourself. You can do this by either wearing an antistatic wrist strap or by frequently touching a grounded metal surface during installation.
2. Also,RAM modules and other internal pc computer hardware are highly sensitive to static electricity which is produced by friction. If you do not ground yourself, you risk destroying your memory modules, as well any other computer component that you come in contact with.
3. RAM Slots are pretty obvious you can check this
link1 and
link2 to view.
4. Make sure to turn off your computer and detach the power cord from the wall socket as a safety precaution. Even though your computer is turned off, electricity can flow through the plugged power cables during a power surge.
5. When you boot up your computer, do not forget to check whether the extra memory has been recognized by your desktop PC.
Hope it helps.
