Samsung LCD Vertical Stripe

I have a Samsung LNR329DX/XAA LCD TV. Several Months ago a greenish / blue vertical stripe about pinky width appeared just to the right of center on the screen. The TV is out of warranty. I've tried switching out cables, etc. and the stripe stay there. Anything to try prior to replacing?

    There is a 4x6" silver plate with four screws and a flat cable going into the bottom of the plate. Do I replace this cable or just unplug it and reset it?

    Didn't work. Would replacing LCD panel definately fix and how would I obtain a part number and could I replace it myself?

  • mtrump May 04, 2010

    PS - should I try to do some sort of reset since replugging the t-con?

Hi,
Apparently its problem of LCD Panel that need to be replaced.
However, there is T-Con board located at top center of rear or lcd panel, remove its metal cover and reinsert flexible ribbon wires coming from lcd panel, some times it helps to fix stripe issue.
Below is an image of rear of lcd panel that shows T-Con board location on lcd panel.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

    ======================================================================

    Yes, unplug tv from wall socket, take off back cover and look on top center area at rear of tv as marked in above exploded view/ image.
    And if you feel uncomfortable working in tv, local tv repairman will help you.
    Let me explain again, some times refreshing T-Con board connection solve the issue but not always and mostly lcd panel is culprit.

    Do not attempt to replace cable, just unplug it from t-con board connector and replug back to refresh connections of cable and connector.
    That cable is directly connected with lcd panel. Handle it carefully.

    LCD Panel would be available with nearest Samsung service center but would cost you approx 70% of new tv price.
    Shop Jimmy could also be source of required lcd panel on less price, if they have it in stock. Please call for lcd panel query as numbers are mentioned at bottom of that web page.

    ==========================================================

    Reset wont work because its hardware problem of lcd panel.
    It is not some sort of software bug or settings problem that can be fixed by resetting.

What causes a Blue Vertical Stripe on left side

Can be the t con board or the lcd panel. its only possible to finalise by replacing the t con board. Before going for a new t con board try to check the connections from t con to lcd panel. if its possible remove and reconnect it. sometime bad contact can cause such problems. Also added a link which would be help full for you.

5 inch wide blue vertical stripe on lcd

It can be but rarely the main board, most of these sets have either one or two boards that drive the image on the screen, different names like T-con or Y out etc. the right side board could be the problem or a bad connector or ribbon cable for that side of the screen unit.

Several possible cures and none are a snap to find in most cases.

Hi, I have a Vizio P42. Worked fine for 5 years. Today is has a vertical blue stripe 1.25" wide, 4" from left side of screen. Blue stripe remains even if all inpust cables are removed. Problem is...

it's burning out. that's a sign of tv failing. there is no repair for that if you used it for 5 years, i doubt you would have warranty for that by now, best option is to replace it.

We originally had a red stripe roughly 3" wide running vertically on the ride edge area of our Panasonic 52" Viera plasma tv. It has now been joined by a solid black stripe of the same width running from the top to the bottom. Living in Germany and purchased at local PX long enough ago that the warranty is likely expired. Now what?

Dark Vertical Stripe on Right Edge of Screen

I experienced the same approx. 1/2" vertical stripe on a Viewsonic vx1945 and ATI Radeon x1050 video adapter on Vista Business SP1, but the stripe appeared along the left edge of the screen, instead of right edge. I then temporarily decreased the monitor resolution, and the stripe went away. I then increased the monitor resolution back to its original setting, and the stripe did not re-appear. So, that was the 'fix' in my situation, hope this helps.

Black Out

Hi Detrix, Check with www.lcdrepair.net if you want a repair. Something is wrong with your LCD controller and or GUI interface circuit or the circuit supplying power to it. If your technically endowed, you may want to open the monitor case and clean the dust and lint from around the circuits using a Small paint brush to sweep away any built up dust. These circuits take the Signal from the computer and controls the 2.5 million pixels on the LCD screen. Dsut can cause major problems with handling all that data. Give it a shot, what do you have to loose, its not dangerous if the monitor is unplugged.
