Hi Mark,

First here is a link to a parts view that I will refer to just as points of reference.

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http%3a%2f%2fc.searspartsdirect.com%2flis_png%2fPLDM%2fG0802120-00001.png

-Unplug the power cord

- Remove the grille part 111 there may be a couple screws from the top down or inside the grille, but most of the GE models just snap in and out.

-With the grille off you will see a screw holding the top of the control panel 105 on. Remove this screw and the control will hinge down to expose the smart board.

I will be here if you have more questions.

This sounds like the control board also called a smart board in some models has to be replaced.

My GE Spacemaker microwave - control buttons seem confused. When I press one of the buttons, either nothing happens or it goes to the wrong screen. What is up?

On the JVM2070- and PVM2070-series microwaves, GE does not make service information or separate parts available.

So when you have an error with the controller that does not involve the smart board (and this error does not) then you have to order the control panel subassembly, which on your model (PVM2070SM1SS) is part number WB07X11143 and you can get it from the Pros here for $477.83 (subject to change).

It's very expensive but it's actually simple to replace that part yourself.

You would remove the control panel assembly as shown in our video here, then remove your smart board and attach it to the new control panel subassembly.

Some connectors on the relays have a lock:

If it's under warranty or GE Customer Service would give you a break on the the part cost, that would be a big plus for you.

Ge spacemaker microwave jvm1650wh03 randomly shuts off and requires you to reset clock before continuing

The problem is in the keypad control board, this item alone is at least $97.00 for the part and does not include labour.

I have a 2003 GE Spacemaker model 2.0 (JVM2070WH001): the touch pad has stopped responding to any input. Can it be fixed?

Yes! but the whole keypad control or smart board will need to be replaced. I highly recommend a professional for this job and do a spot check on the rest of the unit.

Install item # AP3993720 in a ge hvm1540dn1ww

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and move the circuit board into your frame.

Some connectors on the relays may have a lock:

I have a microwave model HVM1540DN1WW - manufactured Jan 08 and suddenly none of the buttons work. This seems to be a common complaint as I've discovered in my research trying to find a way to fix this....

Hello,

There is a child lock on this micro wave. If you do not have the manual it can be downloaded from the following site:-

Our Spacemaker XL Microwave oven is on and runs ,but does not hea

Usually when a microwave is on and runs but does not heat there is a substantial humming associated with the symptom. If you do not have that tell tale hum you have a control problem with the relay that provides power to the magnetron.

It is most likely the Smart board Item 12
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5227571&diagram_id=22974425#d22974425

BUT the Capacitor, the diode, the 3 thermostats and the magnetron all need to be ruled out as possible failures before changing the Smart Board.

See link below:

Cap = Item 49
Doide = Item 50
3 Thermostats = Items 110 (2ea) and 115
Magnetron = Item 73
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5227571&diagram_id=22974428#d22974428

It will take a meter and some resistance readings to isolate the thermostats, diode and capacitor.

The thermostats should read continuity

The diode should read continuity in one direction

The capacitor must be shorted several times to avoid ruining your day and possible injury.
The capacitor should make an ANALOG meter jump each time the leads are reversed.

This should give you an idea what to expect for repairs.

Thanks for using FixYa!

GE profile microwave

Most likely problem is your Smart card has fried.Its located on the removable panel that your display is attached to.If you remove the screws that open this Clock Panel (un plugged from power first) the display panel will swing down and you will see the circuit board I mention (Smart card/control board ).Look for a visible burn on this board.If you see one ,replace the board.
