this refrigerator has been down and not working for over 24 hours. Just tried it again and the compressor tries for 10 to 15 seconds then shuts off then retries again after a few minutes. Is there an automatic defrost timer on this box if so where and could this be the problem?

This refrigerator has been turned off for more than 28 hours. I plugged it in and the compressor tries for 10 second turns off the 5 minutes later it tries again then clicks off. Could this be a auto defrost timer going bad? can i manually turn it off? Where is it located?

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your refrigerator. From the description you have given here, it is most likely the start relay for the refrigerator that has gone out.

To check this, you will need to pull the refrigerator out and get behind it. Unplug the cord from the wall and and remove the lower rear panel. Behind there is a compressor, it is black and about the size of a bowling ball, this is the device you are hearing trying to start. On one side of it is a plastic cover with wires entering it. Remove that cover and that will expose the start device in question. If you remove wires from the components be sure to note where they came off, I like to take a digital picture so I remember. The first component that comes off is the relay, if it rattles it is bad.

If you can send me the complete model number from the tag on the refrigerator I can help identify the part number you will need to fix it.

Mvl777, If the condenser coils are clean and dust-free, then unit may need to have compressor replaced, or at least inspected by a qualified HVAC appliance technician to determine cause of "shutdown" !! When was last time unit's condenser coils were cleaned with a vaccum cleaner??? Are the automatic "defrost" heating coils working? Your unit may need to be emptied out and left open overnight (defrosted) to completely defrost unit. 12fixlouie

Dryer is tumbling but no heat - when I reset it shuts off after about 10 min and the Drying, Cool Down, and Extended Tumble lights are all flashing.

Janet McDonald,

I understand that you are having trouble with your dryer not heating and not running a full cycle and shutting off with the Drying, Cool Down, and Extended Tumble lights flashing. What I suggest is to give your appliance a hard reset. You will do this by either unplugging it or cutting the power off at the circuit breaker for 3-5 minutes. After the 3-5 minutes, bring power back and try to start a cycle. If it does not complete the cycle and shuts off with the lights flashing, I suggest to either contact the manufacturer or a local appliance technician. This way you will be able to locate the cause of this issue and have it resolved.

Hello,
That condenser fan motor needs to be replaced. You and doing the right thing as far as using a seperate fan to keep compressor cool, buy replacing the fan the compressor will run cooler and click off by being too hot as you have heard/seen.

Find your model number and call your local appliance parts store and see if they have a CONDERSER FAN MOTOR in stock

I don't know if it's my linksys 5 port router or

Could be over heating let it cool meaning complete shut off unpluged 20 mins for all heat to removed. Then check how long it stays on. If it last more than a few mins it is over heating. You need to try to get all dust out of it and try it again. If this time the link is lost after a few mins or hours its was over heating. Also at this point it could be a bad component over heting and a new router is need.
This could be one of many problems good luck.
