Am trying to scan to email from copier - - keep getting error "can't locate stmp" - nothing is blocked on AT&T's side (port 25 open) - any suggestions?

Sheila, maybe I should have been a little more clear and concise in my question - - scanning from the KM 3035 to the PC or laptop is not the issue - this works fine. Scanning from the KM 3035 to email is the issue - - it won't work and yet it was working 2 weeks ago.

    Ok, will try.

What is your operating system?

I assumed that SMTP Server is installed. If not send me comment.

You may need to setup SMTP Server configuration.

To do that (for example on Windows XP operating System)

1. Go to the Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services console. (Classic XP menu : Program Files or Control Panel or XP Start Menu users will find it under Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance.
- Right-click on the IIS option.
- Choose "Send To" and click to create a desktop shortcut.
- Go desktop, click on the ISS icon to start the IIS Control Panel. Ensure that the SMTP service has started.

2. Right-click on the SMTP server and choose "Properties."
- On the General tab, enter as your IP address.
- Click on "Access."
- Toward the bottom, you'll see Connection Control. Click on "Connection." Click "Add" and enter again. Hit "OK" to close the boxes. Your server is now set up.

3. Using a program like outlook make sure that when you configure your email accounts, the SMTP protocol is localhost or

(NOTE: You should find the similar menus on your operating system if it is not XP. I hope you can.)

Hope this helps.

If you were doing it two weeks back and you have not changed anything, then the only thing that could have got changed on its own due to some reason are the drivers. I would still recommend un and re installatiom of drivers. Moreover, doing that would cost you only some time. Please try it.

Open saved location and rename.
Write your email & click on insert drop down box
Click on "pictures inline "
Open pictures.
Open MP Navigator folder
Choose scanned item by name

How can I fix my error 530 problem in outlook?

Your Outlook settings work fine at home, sending/receiving mail. You're on the road now, and you can no longer send, but only receive mails. You're getting an Error 530 or Outlook error 0x800CCC78.

The problem is the on-the-road ISP may be blocking port 25, and/or your ISP might not accept mail being relayed from other network domains. SBC Yahoo allows you to change your SMTP port from 25 to 587. Most ISPs let port 587 flow through. Internet access works, receiving email works, you just can no longer send.

  • Go to Outlook, Tools, Accounts, Server, Advanced, and change the SMTP port from 25 to 587. Hit Apply, OK, then exit/restart Outlook.
  • Start Outlook, create a test email and send it. Should work fine.
  • The solution might vary with other ISPs. Your home ISP must support an alternate port for SMTP TCP traffic, and the current ISP providing you access must not block that alternative port.
  • Recognize this is all the fault of spammers and the ISPs trying to slow them down. This is why they block port 25 for non-customers.

If this doesn't work, just change the port back to port 25.
Alternatively, as with SBC Yahoo mail, you can always use the Webmail interface. This, like all other web pages, uses port 80, which ISPs do not block.

I'm configuring the workcentre for a small business that uses Gmail (which has similar authentication requirements to yahoo and hotmail). I am getting STMP errors on trying ports 25, 465 (SSL) and 587...

>> Current Workaround: I am using my ISP email which does not require SSL connection and goes through port 25. It seems to work fine like this. I have set the default reply email to the gmail address.

Yes, that is _exactly_ what you must do for "outgoing" E-mail from your printer going "out" to an arbitrary E-mail ID somewhere on the Internet.

E-mail comes in all right, but I get the error message when I try to send messages out. . . says server won't accept my address

Some ISPs will block your ability to send mail via SMTP client on your machine. If the email server is different from the one offered by your ISP.

the typical port for the SMTP service is TCP port 25. To allow your outgoing email to route past your ISP, change this to TCP port 587.

On Linux and Mac OS/X, this is found in file /etc/services
On Windows XP, try 'windows\system32\drivers\etc\services'

Locate a line such as
smtp 25/tcp mail

and change it to
smtp 587/tcp mail # port for outgoing mail

I can't send emails via Hotmail/Outlook express

1.check whther your HTML outgoing mail settings are correct
2.check whther your recipients are HTML capable.
3.Here are some factors that might affect the sending of messages through e-mail clients:
a. You may be using the Incorrect SMTP settings.
b. Your firewall software is blocking your e-mail client or the port for outgoing messages (Port 25) is being blocked by your security software.
c. Your router has a firmware setting to block certain communication ports (specifically port 25).
d. Your ISP has blocked access to port 25.
I also suggest using port 587 instead of port 25. This will help you to get around any blocks set up on port 25.
Moreover, to retain your messages on Hotmail server, check the option to leave a copy of my messages on the server on Outlook Express. For assistance, you can visit this link to contact their support team:

Scan to email

Most copiers scan to the standard email port 25 or 110, yahoo uses a different port, you need to configure, if possible, for the copier to scan to that port.
