My NEC Superscript 1400 is overlapping sheets. It starts the print but then pulls in another sheet before the first sheet is out, overlapping the paper causing a print jam. It will also pull a page from the bin and do the same when attempting to manually feed. It seems to do this only if the printer has just been turned on for the first few hours... after that seems to operate normally and print fine.
I have the same problem when paper is fed from the paper tray. It works fine when there is only one sheet in the paper tray and the manual feed works fine. It is nuisance to load or feed one sheet at a time for a multiple page print job.
I have the same problem. I read up that it happens when the paper feed mechanism has been "toggled" to a different position, and one must toggle the lever back to the right position, while the printer is horizontal, that is normally upright. That tilting the printer on a side or it's back will misposition this lever. I read that on a web page. I'm trying to find that page now (last found 3-4 years ago), and found this site. I serviced the printer myself when it started this problem, cleaning dust out, and eventually disassembling it, then putting it back together. It still happened. It could be worn rubber feed wheel or worn anti overlap protection pad, or ??? Posted August 2nd, 2008.
