Ok, then hook up an external monitor. If that works fine, then you need a screen & inverter.

The inverter could be faulty. The inverter supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp that provides the back light. The inverter is located at the bottom of the LCD screen between the hinges.

Dell latitude e4200 restarts with blue screen

Sounds like the image doesn't have the right drive controller driver included. Could be because the image was created on a different laptop or could be the drive controller is configured differently. You can confirm this from the STOP error code on the blue screen

Go into the BIOS setup (probably F2 at boot) and see if the controller mode is set to AHCI. If so, set it to compatibility or combined(?) and try again.

Either way, if you've installed an image for the wrong hardware, you probably should do a remedial install. Boot from your Windows XP disc and follow the prompts as if you were doing a clean install until you get to the license agreement. At the next screen, it should show you any existing Windows installs and give you a new option to repair. Let this go - it won't touch any user files, just replace all the Windows files with those from the CD. Have your system drivers and service packs handy to tidy up when it's done.

Somehow when carrying my E4200 Laptop I pushed buttons that have rotated my screen graphics 90 degress counterclosckwise and I can't seem to figure out how to roitate back...Help!!!!

Several things you can try.

One, try using keyboard combinations as follows, CTRL and Right Arrow. If that doesn't work then try CTRL+ALT and Right Arrow. You can also try pressing the Left Arrow.

Depending on your video card installed on that laptop, you may have that management software loaded and running. If so, then right click anywhere on your desktop, as long as you don't right click on any icons, and you should see a pull down menu appear. If you see anything that says 'Orientation' or 'Rotate', click on that. You should see a selection for 0 degrees. That should put you back in the 'Home' Position.

You can turn off that feature. But it would help to know which video card you have. There are only three major types, nVidia, ATI, or Intel. If you can find out, repost your issue and give a bit more detailed response to your problem.

Hope this helps.

Dim screen

Its going to be either the lcd or the inverter more then likely. Go ahead and unhook the lcd cable from the motherboard and the back of the LCD. Reseat the cable into the LCD and the motherboard. If its still dim then the best thing to do is to replace the LCD cause it comes with the inverter.

My dell l e4200 has screen problem, when I boot it up nothing is showing even if I press fn-f8.

There can be several reasons this is happening. The first thing I would suggest is testing the video card by connecting an external monitor to the laptop. If that works, the cable connecting the laptop screen or screen itself may have been disconnected/damaged/gone bad. If it doesn't work, the video card may have gone bad.

HP DV1000 screen too dim

The 4 most common problems with dim lcd's on a laptop are boken screens, bad power inverter, bad florescent bulbs or a broken cable.

You can test the power inverter with a meter.

There should be 2 bulbs. If your screen is dim and your inverter is good and you can still make out what is on the screen, you probably have a bad bulb. If you can't determine which bulb is bad you'll have to replace both.

In my opinion, the easiest way to handle this is to replace the whole screen. Yes, it's more exspensive, but consider that it is most likely to fix your problem. A replacement screen comes with the power inverter, both bulbs, and the cable; already assembled and ready to install.

Dell E4200 screen problems

Sure there is its called a TOSHIBA

Dell is the poor mans brand and is poorly made to the poor price!

The lines are caused byt a failing Liquid crystal display gel. A new screen can be purchased from a Dell outlet. But you could be spending money on a bettr unit that is reliable and under warranty. Take a ook at the Toshiba L300 range, very affordable, losts of bells and whistles and much better quality. and about $5-600 on special for introduction to the market. These units are usually in the $900 and over range

Please rate my help++++Thanks for uisng FIXYA
