Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

I have a Hotpoint Cooker 6109, there is one loose wire, thick white one and I don't know where to re-attach it to. The cooker has never been used so this should be the only problem with it, it causes the oven not to work. Please help.

All that I find are instruction books, not service manuals. Its just one thick white wire that has come unattached at the top end that could re-attach to a number of places. Any advice would be much appreciated

that's not so helpful, i don't have a sixthe sense when it comes to electrics, i am afraid of blowing the whole thing!

The wire is from the oven and it's the one with heatproof insulation. It is loose in the switch area there are several terminals on the oven switch. They all trip the overlaod.

get extension lead plug lead from cooker into it do not plug into socket that you usually plug cooker into try another switch on if it still cuts out means fault is with cooker lead and electrics. if you can open plug check wires have not come loose. other than that you must get an electrician!

The wires on the timer of my cooker have been disconnected now my son can not remember which way they go back on there are two pins on the timer N7 and L8 and four wires one orange and spare pin one blue...

Sounds like the orange and blue wires are attached to the spare pins. If so that leaves the brown and the white. The L in the L8 probably stands for line. Line is active and the brown wire is always the active. The N in the N7 would normally mean neutral. Neutral is normally blue but if there is only one wire left that must be where the white goes.

The green wire is the ground,
the white wire is the common,
the red and black wires are the 240 volts (hot) wires)
