My Fosgate P4004 is 3.5 years old and just started blowing fuses. Do you think the amp is shot or might there be something else going on and how do I tell?

SOURCE: rockford amp cut out

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect the RCAs. Replace the 30 amp fuse with a 15 amp fuse. If you turn it on and it blows the fuse, it's likely that it has shorted output transistors. If that's the case, you need to have the amp repaired.

SOURCE: Rockford Fosgate Punch P325.1 Amp keeps blowing

well if the amp works with the car off and when you start it the fuse blows then you may have alternator issues use a volt meter to check battery voltage is not above 14.5 volts
if the fuse blows when the amp turns on then most likely you have a shorted output section in the amp.

I have a rockford fosgate punch P325.1 subwoofer mono amp that blows a fuse every time i start the car. I have a second pioneer amp but that works with no problems. How can i fix this?

Is it the correct size fuse ? Is it the power fuse or remote ? Either way check your connections going into the amp . Try this hook your other amp to the set of wires for the rockford if that amp has a problem its a wireing problem if not chances are its an interal problem on the rockford . Hope this helps !

I have a rockford fosgate 550 that the fuse blows

Short inside one of the transistors. This requires very good soldring skills and electrical know-how, and some thermal paste to go between the heat-sink and the transistor. Unfortunatly this is not a cheap repair, probably cost around 100 dollars.

Cheers,

Kevin

Amp was hooked up without fuse from battery to amp

Another failure must have occured, as the fuse would have blown, possibly limiting the damage, however something did fail to start the problem.

Nobody can give you an honest estimate without analyzing the damage.
A wild guess would be one-half the cost of the unit.

Did it only blow the fuse AFTER you applied remote voltage?

If you're going to try it again, do so with nothing larger than a 20 amp fuse.

You might want to try better quality fuses, or allow the amp to warm up a bit before you start bumping down the street make old ladies angry.
