Brake light will not turn on with foot brake or hand brake. All other lights work. Will it be a loose wire? What colour will it be? Where should I look? 1991 FXSTC D. Butler.

Solution, (after checking all wiring) was bad contacts in rear light. Cleaned them up, and everything works fine now. Always the simplest solution and always the last one you check!!!

Tail light and foot pedal brake light does not work but hand lever brake light works.

Probably a bulb/ rear brake switch combination. If your front brake switch is working, then half of the bulb is working. No taillight issue, probably a bulb. No rear brake light, probably the rear brake switch. Located on the lower right rear of the frame, behind the exhaust. Check for power on the orange/white wire at switch. If you have that then check for power on the other terminal of the switch while pushing on the pedal. The rear brake switch is hydraulically operated so you must have adequate pressure to activate it.

Front brake light stays on

Your nipple button under your hand grip is not disengageing when you release brake grip. The switch is staying in instead of popping back out. Spray some wd-40 in their. Its between the brake perch and the brake lever.

95 road king brake light does not work taillight works changed

I take it it does not work foot or hand control. look for your brake light switch right side of frame rail usually a goldish color or silver color. it has two plug in connectors. Unplug and put a test light to them. apply either brake. If the light comes on then you have a bad brake switch. replace it. if you have foot brake and no hand brake light then it would most likely be the brake nipple in the hand switch. but you did not say so I assume no brakes foot or hand.

Where is the rear brake light switch located on a 97 Fatboy ?

Follow the actuating rod from the bottom of the brake pedal to the master cylinder. The switch is threaded into the inboard side of the master cylinder and is a pressure switch. If you disconnect the 2 wires and short them together, the brake light should turn on when the ignition switch is on. If it doesn't the problem is in the rear end wiring, not the switch. A couple hints if you replace the switch: Put some pipe dope on the new one and have it ready to go. Unscrew the old one and quickly apply the new one before all the brake fluid escapes. That way you won't need to bleed the brake. Also, see if they have an Accell brand switch. This one of the few aftermarket products that is better than original. Cheaper, too.

Turn signal probs

This is going to be one of three things, and you should check them in this order, 1- you have a loose connection, bad/broken ground wire, or an exposed/bare wire on, around, or in line with the rear signal that is staying on. It's common for the wiring insulation to rub through and short at the bend where the signal wires go through the signal mount and run down the rear fender strut. 2- the switch on the bars is sticking or malfunctioning, however, this is less likely because it usually causes both signals to remain on. and 3- the flasher relay has malfunctioned and needs replaced. I'll bet that this is a bare wire, so start by tracing the signal wires for the right side. If you don't find a bad wire, then replace the relay. Let me know what you found out.

02 sportster 1200 brake light not working

if you have power at the harness pin but not the light then your problem could be a cut wire grounding to frame between connector and light. you did not say what kind of light you have. a regular filament light check the socket as they sometimes go bad due to vibration, if it is a led light, look for a bad componet on the circuit board like a open resistor or such. if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can repair it pretty cheaply.

Check to make sure BOTH light filaments are intact. Or try another bulb to double check the situation before wasting to much time on a simple fix.

Brake lights

check the brake light switch at the front level (right hand switch housing) or rear brake cylinder. One or both may be stuck. You may need to clean or replace.
