Brake light will not turn on with foot brake or hand brake. All other lights work. Will it be a loose wire? What colour will it be? Where should I look? 1991 FXSTC D. Butler.

Solution, (after checking all wiring) was bad contacts in rear light. Cleaned them up, and everything works fine now. Always the simplest solution and always the last one you check!!!

Hi Anonymous, you probably have a bad connection in the tailight fender wiring harness. Inspect all wires and snap connectors for corroded, broken or loose pins. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck. Harley Davidson Wiring Diagrams and Schematics

Brake light does not work 2007 fxstc harley

Hi Anonymous, always check the bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. Have a 2006 dyna wide glide foot brake light brake light hand brake does not replaced lever wherte is the brake switch

The front brake switch is located inside the right handlebar control. It is a plunger type switch. The correct way to install a new one is to solder the wires on the new switch to existing wires from the old switch. Cut the wires about 2 inches or so from the old switch. Be careful when reinstalling the front lever or you may damage the plunger on the new switch.

I have no stop light on a 1979 flh

Hi Peter, always check fuses and bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck:

Emergency brake light comes on & dings when right hand turns only

First have the vehicle's braking system inspected for internal and external leaks ASAP. I don't doubt that fluid level is probably low, but topping it off is not the answer. If no leaks were found then wiring to hand/foot emergency is loose and grounding out.

Brake lights don't work when handbrake is not engaged.

I've had a similar problem is so matter what i do the lights would stay on dim. My solution to my problem was that I had a bad/loose ground.

To your problem with the high mount break mount staying on is that you have a loose ground or a tear in the wire.

but since your truck isn't really that old I would first try contacting the Ford dealership asking them if there was a certain recall on this problem of somesort

95 road king brake light does not work taillight works changed

I take it it does not work foot or hand control. look for your brake light switch right side of frame rail usually a goldish color or silver color. it has two plug in connectors. Unplug and put a test light to them. apply either brake. If the light comes on then you have a bad brake switch. replace it. if you have foot brake and no hand brake light then it would most likely be the brake nipple in the hand switch. but you did not say so I assume no brakes foot or hand.

You have a bad switch at the brake pedal. Or a loose wire. Try light pulling on the wires on the switch at the brake pedal under the dash. They should be tight and secure. If tight and secure the switch could be bad.
