Sadly - NO is the answer. You can go to their website and simply send an Email explaining how it will benefit Garmin for you to tell everyone how great they treated you and they might give you an update because they are a great company and have been known to go the extra mile.

Is there free maps that you can download from the internet, or do you have to pay R350 every year to update you garmin.

There are no free maps. You can buy "lifetime map updates" which costs around 85 Euros. When you go to buy the update from the garmin website it gives you the option of a once off update or a lifetime update. If you buy the lifetime update you get to update your satnav 4 times each year for the lifetime of your satnav. Lifetime in this instance means the lifetime of your satnav not your lifetime.

I am traveling ion europe and have purchased a set of european maps for my nuvi 1300. i need to transfer the maps from the sd card to the nuvi 1300

If you bought your satnav in the USA don't transfer the maps to your satnav. The USA version of the satnav won't work in Europe. If you bought the satnav in Europe you should only have to plug the SD card into the satnav for it to work.

Where can i download the philippines map for my garmin nuvi 255W, including street map?

You need to have your satnav registered with garmin. Log into myGarmin and click on the myMaps tab at the top of the screen. If you don't already have a map of the Philippines click on "buy more maps" and follow the prompts. If you already have a map that you just want to update you can get details of how to update it at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps
You can also get details there of how to register your satnav with garmin if you haven't already done so.

Please note that if this is not an update it's unlikely that your nuvi 255W will have enough space to hold a second map. If you're not updating or replacing a map I would advise against buying it as a second map. It is possible to install a second map to a memory card but there is a risk that it may not work. Memory cards in garmin satnavs appear to be very hit and miss. Some work and others don't for no aparent reason.

What is the best and cheapest way ot update are garmin. or is it better to get a new one

There's only one way to update a garmin satnav without risking destroying it. You can find details of how to do so at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps. To do a once off update will cost in the region of 80 euros. To get a lifetime update will cost around 140 euros. The price varies depending on the map you want to download. This is for the lifetime of the satnav rather than your lifetime.

The nuvi 200 is a discontinued satnav, even though it may only be a few years old, and the problem with it is that it probably won't be able to hold the complete updated map. This means that you'll have to download only part of the map e.g. if you have a map of Europe you may have to settle for Western Europe or Central Europe etc. You can download the whole map to your computer and install the remainder to an SD card. However maps on an SD card rarely work with the nuvi 200.

So it depends on what you want. If you want the complete map it may be better to go for a new satnav and try to sell your old one to cover part of the cost. If you only use the satnav in your own country or state you might be happier to just update and settle for part of the map. Some new garmin satnavs come with free lifetime map updates. They can be identified by the letters LMT at the end of the model name. Of course you're paying for them in the price of the satnav. The problem with the new satnavs is that in 3 years time or so they will also be discontinued and outdated and the full maps will probably not fit on them either.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 265WT about a year old. Do I need up[dates and are these free, please?

If it's working alright and you're happy with the map there's no need to update it. New maps are released approximately every 3 months for Garmin satnavs but unless there are a lot of new roads there's no need to update that often. Details on how to update your satnav, if you want to, are at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps

Garmin only supply free updates if a new map became available within 60 days of the first time your satnav accessed satellites. If you never checked to see if you were entitled to a free update follow the update procedure outlined at the above link. When you click on Get Update, if you are entitled to it free you'll be brought to the download page. If you're not entitled to it free you'll be brought to the page where you pay for it.

Need to update maps for free on my garmin nuvi 2w series, what are the steps

The only time you get to update your maps for free from the garmin website is if it's a new satnav and a new map becomes available within 60 days of it first connecting to a satellite. Details on how to update your map are available at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps. If you see free maps available elsewhere be suspicious of them as they are likely to damage your satnav.

HI, I have a Garmin Nuvi 200W. Do you get frre map upgrades? Where do I go and how do I go about to update the maps? It has never been updated in about 4 years.

The only time Garmin give free maps is if a new map comes out within 60 days of you first connecting to satellites with your satnav. If you have it for four years I'm afraid you'll have to pay for the upgrade. Details of how to update your garmin nuvi satnav are at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps

How to update my garmin nuvi gps?

To update your Garmin satnav you go to www.garmin.com If you haven't already registered it you'll need to do so. You'll be asked to select a username and password. Write them down and keep them safe as you'll need them again if you want to update again. You'll need to connect the satnav to the computer. When you've registered you'll be able to log into My Garmin. Click on My Maps. If there's an update for your map it'll be shown there otherwise it'll say no update available. Click on Get Update and you'll be led through the process. It costs about 80 euros for a one off update or you can get a lifetime, that is lifetime of the satnav, update which costs around 130 euros. On the other hand if you know somewhere close to where the street is you want to go to you could enter it as an address and have a look on the map. If you can see where you want to go to you can move the map around by dragging it with your finger. Then press where you want to go and the arrow will move to there. You can then save that location in favourites by pressing Save and give it a name. I hope this is some help.
