Whirlpool GMC305PD -- Thee beeps and won't start

Light on Microwave went out and when I was figuring out how to change the bulb the microwave stopped working. I suspected door closure micro switches were bad so I changed the switch on the top left side of the door and the two switches on the top right side of door. Did not fix or change the problem. Still the same. All the lights and numbers come on normally. Is there another door switch I missed?? Is there some sort of reset? I changed the bulb and it still doesn't work either....

Can you tell me where to find the fuses?

  • Scabo Mar 26, 2008

I checked and there are three fuses. 1) Line fuse; 2) magnetron thermal fuse and 3) cavity thermal fuse. Which fuse would it be? I would think if the line fuse was bad that the microwave would not have power but everything is working except the start button gives three beeps. If the lline fuse was bad there would be no power (hence no beeps at all). Am I missing something?

You need to replace the 20 amp line fuse (listed as a 15 amp on the tech sheet for the microwave/oven combo which can be found on top of the unit once you take off the control panel. The unit needs to be pulled out and quite a bit of the metal protective panels have to come off to get to the fuse, which is located on the right side of the microwave. We had the same problem and when i googled the problem, I read that it had to do with the door switches. We found out (by having a repairman out) that it has nothing to do with the door switches and once you replace the fuse, the light works and the microwave work. Hope this helps someone.

please test this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.

New unit used 3 days. Microwave beeps and screen goes to menu, or set time screen. Sometimes changes the date all by itself. Does this in the middle of the night all night long.

I advice you to contact service if it has guarantee. This seems to be a psychological problem about your oven(!). Technical person need to do an electronic research surgery on its board to see if there is any wrong thing.

Hello, The inside light went out in my CM8155XJ Microwave. For the life of me I can't figure out how to access the bulb. Any info you may be able to share would be greatly appreciated. Thank You very...

the whirlpool free helpline is 1-800-253-1301
I don't think that there are any parts of the oven that you can service, however if you are feeling very brave then you could try removing the screws on the back

The range-top light blew and now replacement bulbs

My Whirlpool/Roper microwave/hood combo has the same problem. I replaced the bulb twice, checked the bulb and it works, but not in the microwave. I wrote to Whirlpool asking about the problem. Haven't heard from them yet.

Light bulb burned out in microwave oven

Most likely you're going to have to dismount the microwave and remove the outside cover to get to the bulb. This is a fair amount of work but is not rocket science. I'm not famliar with your particular microwave, but it's probably that way. If it's any comfort to you, light bulbs are usually not covered by warranties or service contracts.

It won't hurt to run the microwave without a bulb.

GE MIcrowave model JVM1631BJ01 hood lights won't work

The part that controls that is goes through your control panel on your microwave. For the lights to come on to start with the door being closed switches have to be working right and when you press start the lights come one. When the microwave is through cooking and you open then close the door then the lights should go out. The logic IC on the control panel board that detects all these events is not being reset correctly. Unless you get a microwave tech to track down the component on the control panel circuit board it is not something that you could do on your own since it takes voltage and signal checks with the proper equipment and then some soldering and desoldering of the defective component(s). Good luck and God bless.
