Try to change slots of the Ram. Still if it's not working try only with new RAM to check if new RAM is working fine or not.

Memory upgrade on acer aspire 7551

the hard drive has the storage capacity to remember files and folders and os systems
if you want a bigger hard drive because you want to store more files get a new bigger sshd hard drive
the ram memory which is where the cpu stores data as it is processing commands can be expanded by adding to max ram available for that computer
there may even be 2 slots so an extra card can be added
the ram memory is what is needed if you do gaming on the laptop
best if you talk with a computer repair shop
remember that a new better laptop is just your laptop with all new internals so up grading is normally around 2/3 the price of a new one

Just installed 2 512 mb memory but when i turn the laptop on the fan turns on and the lights blink but it works fine with old memory. and others have upgraded memory to 2 gb when the max is 1 gb and theirs...

Sound like you have two questions:

1) Why does my new memory not work?

2) Can I upgrade to 2 GB?

For Question #1, my thought is that maybe the new memory does not match up the laptops specifications. According to Gateway's website, "This notebook has two 200-pin industry standard DDR-SODIMM sockets that can accept 266 MHz DDR RAM memory module." Is the new memory 266 MHz? If not, that could be your problem and you should get the appropriate type of memory.

If the memory you purchased is 266 MHz, you probably have defective hardware and should seek a refund or replacement.

As for Question #2, you can try it but you may waste your money. If the manufacturer says the max memory allowed is 1 GB, it probably is true. I would only try it if you could get free, cheap or borrowed memory.

I attempted to upgrade the RAM on my HP Pavilion zv5000. (the one under the keyboard) when I tried to turn it on, there is just a blank screen. Any idea what the problem is? The laptop was installed...

According to the link below you can do the upgrade. If is not working, make sure you have the memory seated correctly, then mix and match the memory and switch slots to find the problem memory. It may be incompatible with either the motherboard or the other memory sticks, or just a bad stick.

How much memory can you install onto a macbook I would like to upgrade to 1TB

Memory or hard drive, they are two VERY different things. Memory is used to store running programs only while the computer is on - is super fast - and gets erased when the computer shuts off because it requires electricity to maintain a state. A hard drive stores information long term.

That being said, memory can be upgraded to whatever the mother board supports, usually 8gb max these days (Good luck finding the memory chips to fit in there though). Most people will get two 2gb chips - as most motherboards have only two slots for memory. Some have more. You will need the correct speed of chips however that your motherboard supports. you can't use 10 year old chips in a modern computer, they aren't the same design.

The hard drive can be upgraded to 1tb, and more, and you can buy external hd's for more convenience.

I want to expand my memory, so I went to Fry's with my computer model number and bought a 1Gig memory card, brought it home and the pin configuration doesn't match. The one I bought has two rows of pi

Go to http:\\www.pby.com and look at the memory configurator. You will be asked about your system (make and model). They will then advise you of the specific part number for your memory. Keep in mind, you should never expand upon existing memory. It is always better to replace the memory completely so you don't have to deal with any manufacturing conflicts. Take your new found part number and plug it in at amazon.com

To replace 1 GB of memory completely should cost about $45.00 USD.

Acer Aspire 3690-2970 Memory Upgrade

Your laptop may just not recognize and not even boot up if you exceed the memory limit. It will not harm the laptop if you give it a try with the 4gb. However, sometimes caution is a good thing. It all depends on what you are trying to do on your acer. If you haven't already, remove the old memory sticks and replace it with the 1 2gb memory stick. Work with it for a little while (this should not give you a problem). If you feel the laptop is still too slow....let me know...I will look up the compatibility with the memory and your laptop.

Installed memory

Make sure the new memory is the same as the old. Memory has a set frequency, this frequency matches the processor, so you can't just grab any memory and throw it in the machine and expect it to work. Memory will be rated as either PC or mhz, ie... PC100, PC133, PC2100, PC2600, PC4200, PC5300, 100mhz, 133mhz, 266mhz, 333mhz. These are some of the most common. Your memory should have a tag that tells what it is. If the old memory doesn't, give me the make and model of the machine and I can tell you what it is. If the old and new are the same, then one of the new may be bad, it happens.
