Hi.

You're not just trying to put the .nds files on a standard SD card are you, and then putting that in the SD card slot on the DSi? They won't work like that.

What you need is an R4 card or something like that. Google search for them, you should easily find a site that sells them. Make sure you buy one that is compatible with the DSi as the older ones are only compatible with the standard DS and DS Lite.

The site will also have the information on what you need to do to make the card work, and links to software you may need to download.

Good luck!

My DSi was just updated, a mistake i shouldn't have made. But in doing so my acekard 2i doesn't work any more, i get the error message. i know there's a new patch around this and have downloaded it but...

Hello,

Your Acekard should have a micro sd card, simply remove it and put it into your usb micro sd card adapter. My acekard came with one but I heard some shops don't include it. Once it's in you can back up your files.

That shop I bought my cards from has the correct menu software INCLUDING the .nds flash tool. http://www.dscardworld.com Borrow a friend's DS Lite or old version DSi and boot up the acekard with the .nds fix, load it up and run the fix then your card should work perfectly on your 1.4 DSi :)

How to use the R4i for downloading games for the DSi

hi,

1. get an R4i card (good start so far) www.mymemory.co.uk
2. download firmware to run the card - google search for R4i firmware.
3. install all the files you get as firmware on your sd card (do not make any folders - just put them straight on the sd card)
4. download games and same again, just put the games (straight in the sd card, not in any folder in the ds card)
5. try looking for games on http://www.romulation.net - you want to put the file that ends .nds on your sd card - usually you get them as a .rar or .zip file first then you unzip them.

Good luck.

Just purchased a nintendo dsi for my son. i have a sandisk 4gb SDHC card and i want to download games. How do i format the card for that?

You format the sd card to the card you have, if you have a r4i you format the card for a r4i, just go to linfoxdomain, look for the card you have, download the firmware for the card, if its a r4i gold or an r4i upgrade for example, download the firmware for it,unzip the files and put them on one by one, when you have done that, unzip the games files and then put them on the sd card, then start the dsi and open the games file.

Ds lite unable to locate sd card - using R4 & micro sd

What you will have to do is re format you sd card, their may be to much on the sd card if you are saving files on it, if you have a 4gb sd card only put about 3.6gb of games on it, that leaves plenty of room for your save files, i have had this happen to me when i first started using sd cards, all i did was re format the card, then put the games on again with the firmware, then duplicated all the games and the firmware for the card on my desktop, then if it happened again i can just transfer them over,

Tried to download software for r4 micro sd card 4gb sh but does'nt work.comes on the ds loading ,works fine with 2gb sd card, any ideas? thank's colin

Hey there Colin,

The original R4 card only works with Micro-SD cards up to 2GB in size. To use Micro-SD cards up to 32GB, you need to buy the newer R4 SDHC card or a Nintendo DSi comaptible card. Check out R4 Cards / R4 DS Cards from DSCardWorld.com or NDS-Gear.com (NDS-Gear is probably better if you live in Europe or Canada as their shipping's slightly better internationally).

Good luck!

Micro sd hc 4gb wont work.

THe HC chip set for SD's and micro SD's have different programming in them and are unfortunately not backwards compatable with a standard SD host port. For you laptop, I reccoment getting a USB SD chip adapter. They're only like $6-$10 depending upon the brand. For your phone, however, I reccomend you take it back to the store for a trade-in on a standard SD chip, or for a complete refund so you can buy one from a store that carries standards.
