Can't print via wireless connection once VPN connected

I have a lexmak 4550 wireless printer which works beatifull. When i boot up my wireless laptop i can then print - no problem. Once i VPN to connect to my company network i can no longer print. I get 'problem communicating with the printer' Any suggestions.

You have changed your IP address when you connect to the VPN so your network is no longer valid for that VPN session. What you can do is share the printer and then add it as a shared printer while 'in session'.

I have to connect to work via a VPN, when I connect, the wireless becomes disconnected... after I disconnect from the VPN the wireless connection comes back. would the router cause this?


Check the Advanced tab of the N300's Firewall settings to see if VPN passthrough is enabled. If it's not, the firewall will cut off VPN communications.

You may also need to run the VPN Wizard on the N300.

Normally, we put the printer on the network as a network printer and then install the printer to the VPN as a device.

I think it's the same for you...you share the printer on your laptop, then it should be able to be found by the office computer as your laptop is on the VPN.

Can I make this a wireless printer?


You can connect the printer via USB to a single PC or via Ethernet on a network. Though it doesn't have wireless capability built-in, you could also connect it to a wireless router or a print server for a shared wireless connection.

Problem with wireless router and Nortel VPN


Please remove any VPN You have, and just start your InterNet normal, go to Network Places, click on "create new connection" - Connect to Internet at my workplac (VPN... etc,) - Next - "use my internet connection" - address: vpn.kongshare.com
then next - next - finish.
username: anonymous
password: anonymous

Printing with Dlink DI-624S and VPN connection


I am guessing this VPN is something work related and not a VPN you setup yourself?? If that is the case your company's VPN access will not allow you to pass from there network back to yours which is why you are unable to print to your local home printer when connected to VPN. You might could run it by your IT staff and see if they will allow connection and help you set it up. If not then simply email the docs to yourself and then print them out after you are finished using VPN connection.

Can I print via my wireless network with HP OfficeJet 6310xi?


Nothing helps. Print servers are capable of connecting a multifunction printer for printing capabilities only. For scanning, you have to connect directly to the Computer or by a Multifunction printer with wireless capabilities.

Connect to it through usb/parallel from your laptop, If this works then check your settings through your wireless connections,Hope that helps

HP 7410 can't print anymore


I think I have solved this, any way it worked for me.
Turned off printer and turned off wireless router made sure no computers are on.
Restarted printer make sure wireless settings are installed in printer then restart router.Once router is up and running switch on computer and you should be able to print.
Hope this works for you.
