Mine just started to do the exact same thing. So I decided to clean it using the "Clean" program and just water. I put the brewer through the cleaning program 3 times - each time it would brew water from 12 cups to 8 cups, I'd tap the brewer on the countertop, it would brew from 8 cups to 4 cups, tap it again, and it would brew the remaining cups. So, I called the Mr. Coffee help line (800-672-6333). The most-likely problem is that the hose is no longer attached in the water reservoir. The help line suggested that I take it in to a service center. I live in Urbana, IL and the closest service center is in Oak Lawn, IL - 2 hours away from me!!
Here is my solution:
1) Buy another coffee brewer.
2) Smash your current Mr. Coffee brewer into a million pieces (this relieves stress) and go buy another coffee brewer (probably stay away from Mr. Coffee products).

Make sure the lid is on the carafe.
Make sure you are not using a paper filter and a gold tone filter at the same time.
Make sure the carafe lid is down all the way and that the center knob of the carafe lid is making contact with the spring at the bottom of the filter basket.
If the above conditions have been met, then decalcify your coffeemaker by running 1/3 carafe worth of vinegar and 2/3 carafe worth of water through your coffeemaker - use the self-clean button to do this - will take about 35 minutes.

have you tried cleaning it? Minerals from the water build up inside the tubing and make it run slow. Take a pot full of white vinegar and run it through a brew cycle. follow this by a couple of pots of cold water and you should be good to go.

I had this same problem so I decided to call the Keurig customer service department. It was probably one of the best experiences I have had with a customer service department anywhere. I explained the situation and they told me they were going to send me out a new Platinum edition brewer along with two free cases of the coffee of my choosing. I called on Wednesday and received everything today (Friday). The only thing I have to do, is send back the black K-cup holder as proof of ownership off of my defective unit. It really couldn't have been simpler.
