Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t 14.1" Notebook Laptop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, D... PC Notebook
My X15 has worked fine until recently when I had it on and then the screen suddenly was distorted and then it went blank. Now when I turn it on sometimes it remains a blank screen, sometimes it starts up and the screen is all distorted and then sometimes it starts up normally, sometimes through the logon screen and then the screen distorts and or goes blank.
No matter how it starts in the end it finishes with the blank black screen.
It always continues to be on and it seems the laptop is still working as on some occasions I am able to shut it down using the windows keys.
After my computer boots up to the log in screen, the screen blanks out. I ran a self diagnostic on the hard drive the first time it happened and when I saved the changes, the problem was gone. This time, it is not helping.
Its a On board display (n vidia) controller problem. you need to replace th Mainboard. this problem is reported with Dv2000 boards.no other solutions. ( you can still get the display some times ditorted with external monitor connected at boot up). also there is a possibility that system ram is faulty because the display controller is using the main memory shared. replace the main memory and see!.

Have you tried pressing F8 on boot-up and log into safe mode under administrator, no password, and right click on any empty space on the desktop, left click on properties, left click on settings, select a lower resolution,( e.g. 1024X768 ) select apply, select ok, reboot, log in as normal
