How do I turn off the touch pad on my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop

Hello,

Thank you for using fixya. My name is Carlo.

There are two ways that you can do to turn off/on the touch pad in your acer aspire.

1. Press FN + F7. It will turn off the touchpad and will turn on once you press the same buttons again.

2. If the buttons do not work. You can do this:

1. Go to control panel>hardware and devices>Devices and Printers>Mouse
2. CLick on the last setting on the right.
3. Click on Disable in the Mouse Properties.
5. Click OK.

Just go to the same area when you want to enable your touchpad again.

I hope this helps.

There are not working the touch pad

Hi,
Have you checked that the touch pad is enabled, as Acer uses something like the FN F7 keys to enable disable the touch pad.

If still facing the same issue means you need to download the touch pad driver from the Acer website and you can fix the issue.
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html
Select the product and download the Driver.
Please let me know whether this works or not.

Mine stopped working too, and it turns out to be that button to the left of the power button that disabled it. Check that...if the

Acer keyboard and touch pad doesn't work

I had the same problem. Do not put the battery back. It is damaged. You need a replacement. It is a battery surge that causes this behavior.
