Question about Televison & Video
Ok...this is only a theory. Did u replace bulb..or lamp unit?
To cut along story short the tv has a timing device in it set to about 8000 hours. When u look at a picture (google) of the new replacement lamp unit, there is an additional circuit board on the housing, this aligns to two tiny contacts inside the tv. (you can see it when u look inside the socket. its green and about 10mm by 20mm and labeled lamp saftey). this circuit board (on the lamp unit) is absent on the one that comes with a new htd501. I believe the replacement lamp housings circuit board is a 500Ma fuse, which momentarily sends a current to reset the timing device then immediately blows, leaving your timing device reset to 0hrs.
As i say this is only theory based on reading other materials online, however my friend has this problem and i am waiting for him to give me the go-ahead and try it.
What I will do is make a plasic board with bean tin contacts aligned to the contacts inside the tv, and solder a fuse housing to the home made contacts and use a 500ma fuse. this should reset the timer!!
I cannot guarantee or even recomend this unless u r sure and confident about making the above gadget. however i will return to this page and tell u if i was successful in a week or two.

Sagem used two methods to reset the lamp timer.
HTD501 is as described above, with a resistor.
Subsequent models have a fuse mounted in the lamp holder. Whwn the lamp is replaced the fuse should also be replaced. When you first switch on it will blow deliberatrely resetiing the counter
