How to connect wires to amp

Most amps have 3 places where you need to hook up wires to power them. the 1st is a ground wire that at best is 1 foot long and it goes on the ground or negative 12 volt connection then a bolt on the car you may need to sand off the paint for it to work, 2 a RMT or remote wire that is normally in the middle of the power and the ground connections the remote turns the amp on and off so it needs to go to the remote wire on the radio or a ignition spot on the fuse box - turns on with key on and off when you turn the key off , 3 the power wire is hopefully large 4 gauge wire and goes to the + 12 volt plug on the amp this wire has a in line fuse and goes to the battery and to the amp only. RCA wires go from the radio to the amp and are round and just plug in with no screws some factory radios need a conversion kit you can get at walmart for RCA wires. the speaker wires have some sort of mark or line to tell you what to put were like if you put the line on a negative on the amp you need to put the line on the negative on the speaker box to or it will not bass and could hurt your amp. ask me if you need anything else :) and please rate :/

Where do i connect the remote wire from the amp to??

The stereo on the remote lead, make sure its not the power lead, the remote is what clicks your amp on when you start your car. So it goes from stereo to amp

I need a wiring diagram for installing 2 LT980-2

do you need help just for the power or for the audio or both?

power it is simple
positive goes to the battery but with a fuse in the middle
negative goes to a metal ground point on the car (but not battery)
remote goes to the radio with should have a blue and white cable if radio does not have remote line then use the acc wire from radio

for sound
your amp does two speakers and im guessing you want the back ones amplified
so cut the 4 wires that come from the radio and goes to the back speakers 2 positive and two negative
and connect this to the input the phono terminals on the back (unless your radio has phono terminals for audio out on the back side

then take the output from the amp and run it to the speakers one positive and negative to each speaker

i cant seem to find a wiring diagram for that amplifier but i can give you a more genral diagram

Remote wire location

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On the JVC, the blue wire is intended for a motorized or power antenna and therefore would only work when the JVC KDG-821 is set to tuner (AM or FM) mode. The external amplifier trigger from the JVC unit is blue/white. This should connect to the trigger / remote terminal of the amplifier.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

The acc means a power on connection when you turn on the key..On your amp you'll see a blue wire or a connection that says remote..Then find a connection on the car that when the key is turn on or when the radio turns on it turns your amp on for you threw that wire..Hope this helps you...

Cant figure out where to connect the remote wire to

The Remote Wire Connects to the Blue Wire From the Stereo If you have an Aftermarket Stereo. This will control the Amps Power with the Ignition Start and Accessory Positions.

I need installation instructions for a MTX thunder 280

BATT = 12v positve constant
GND = 12v negative or ground
REM. = 12v positive switched or remote wire.

The remote wire is most commonly found on aftermarket CD players. It's typically in the main wire harness. The most common color of this wire is blue with a white stripe.

Power light on the amp goes on after 5 sec off ultra linear 1200

If you run the remote from the battery you will need a on/off switch. Sounds like the amp is overheating. Also, I don't understand bridge the remote and power. They should be seperate going into the amp.

When i hook up the remote wire it makes my power wire go to 4 volts

If the battery is strong enough to start the engine, you probably have a bad connection or a defective fuse in the power wiring. If you solve the voltage problem and the amp blows fuses, it likely has shorted output transistors.

Amp goes into protect mode.

I would definately suspect wiring. If you can use a volt meter. Put it on the b+ to ground and see what the reading is should be 12+ then try the ground to remote wire should be 12+. If it drops below 12 volts when car starts. Recheck wires for loose connection. Also double check the wire you have the remote wire connected to. You might even want to disconnect from the amplifier and use a jumper wire from the positive terminal on the amp to remote on the amplifier and see if it stays on then. If it stays on you will have to find the loose connection or find a different wire to get remote power.
