Question about Rosewill R900J 19" Flat Panel LCD Monitor
17" Benq Flat Screen, 5 years old. Its twin (I bought 2 back then) works perfectly. This one won't come on until I thump it very hard on the bezel, or drop it a few inches onto the desk. Sometimes only the lower half lights up, while the upper half is only dimly illuminated from the lower half. After a good hard thump, it works well until I switch off at night. All the capacitors are perfect, and all soldered joints look perfect under a microscope. I've even resoldered the transistor leads just in case. I don't now how to test transistors, but I doubt that thumping the bezel would change a transistor's state. It suggests a loose connection somewhere, but I'm buggered if I can find it. Any ideas anyone?
The inverter board that controls the lighting on the screen is dying. since its a 5 year old monitor and only a 17 inch. the cost to repair is greater than the cost of buying a new one. unless you know how to replace the part yourself. I think its best to just buy a new monitor
