Computer keeps rebooting into safe mode

I own a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop with windows vista OS. I had to boot into safe mode to remove an MP3 file from Limewire that was corrupt and now my computer rebbots into safe mode all the time. I have tried to boot in normal mode, i have tried system restore but nothing works. my virus scan no longer works, i can not access the internet for online solutions. Basically I am locked in safe mode and can't seem to fix it.

Thanks Steve it was a virus but after 5 hours i fixed it. I had to run msconfig, disable safeboot, disable all ms startup programs, restart, then F8 to normal boot, fix virus protection, then restart again. I only stumbled on this, but so far so good. Thanks for trying to help.

After a fresh install of Windows 7, whenever I click on the start button, or click on specific programs, the laptop will turn off. No BSOD or a warning, just a black screen, followed by the noise of my hard drive spinning down.
If I boot in Safe-Mode with networking, the laptop seems to run fine with no problems. I have tried to use the laptop in normal mode with the charger disconnected and it works, until I plug in the charger.
All drivers have been corrected, viruses scanned and removed, and memory tested during 2 days. I also went into the event logs to see if I can see the problem, but the event logs are empty. I plan on getting a new computer during the summer.
I have also tried with linux, but it crashes after 10 minutes.

    What is going on here?

    Sony VAIO VGN-BX760P
    Windows 7 OEM
    4GB RAM
    80GB HDD

Try going to system tools, and select system restore .. If that does not work ,May be virus, may have full restore with formating the hard drive

I restarted my Toshiba satellite a305 and now it won't boot up or go into safe mode. It comes to the start up screen that says press f2 for setup f12 for boot manager. It will let me go into setup and boot...

If it won't let you go to safe mode, then there's something that the BIOS(setup) or Boot Manager needs before starting the operating system(Windows Vista). You should have a Toshiba Recovery Disk which will fix this . The disk will not touch any of your current files and data,so don't worry about that.

How do i reboot in safe mode

Follow this steps:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
  3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
  5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.
I Hope it helped.

Satellite L305-S5907 locks up.

If your computer boots then lockup, try this:
When your computer boots, press F8 to enter boot selection. Then select Safe Mode. Try to uninstall your newly installed software or hardware that might be causing the problem. Then reboot. If it persists, try using "Last Known Good Configuration"

Another option is to reinstall your OS. Last bad option though. Good luck

Computer keeps rebooting into safe mode after trying to Restore

Hold down the number "0"key and continue to hold it down as you turn on the laptop. Keep holding the key and then if the laptop makes a sound let go and hopefully it will go into the internal factory restore for your laptop.

If it doesn't then you'll need to restore your laptop with your recovery disks.

Either way the hard drive needs to be wiped out in order to get rid of the virus since it did irrepairable damage to the operating system.

If you need help with restoring your laptop back to factory defaults, let me know and I'll walk you thru it.
