Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
I had the same problem, but keep it simple, first identify if it is firmly plugged in so that it will detect.
2.If that dosen't solve it, then it gets to a hard ware issue which actually isn't hard, sometimes the circuitry inside the memory card will slide back and fourth which keeps the memory card from making contact. What you do is you unscrew two screws from the memory card and then what you do is find a small tab of a sort to mount in between the back end and where the memory card circuit board ends.
3.If you did that and that does not work what you do is you open the playstation (trust me it's not that bad) and look where the "ribbon" contact meets the device that the controller and memory card. there is supposed to be a small brown flap that secures that ribbon in place. there are two ends where it meets and you will have to continue unscrewing until you find the end that connects to the motherboard. That should fix it if nothing else.
