Hello Ncp, hi, there are several reasons why this things happen, here are some possibilities, 1. your motherboard is bad or something is making it bad, (are there holes on the back of your casing where a small RAT could fit in, they sometimes pupu on your mobo, so a visiual inspection will reveal it.) 2. beside the motherboard, are there video cards, or expansion card on your mobo, check them also for this rat pupu (rat waste) 3. your power supply is bad, you have no choice but to replace it with a new or good one. Thats it, keep me posted.

In asus P5GL-MX mother board the power supply regulator ic 2 piece has been damaged (short) how would i know plz help me

Hi if the regulator ic has been damaged in your power supply even you replace that there are some electronic component where also damage because the ic will not damage where there is no over voltage flow on it. This means there are some resistor or a transistor is also shorted it advisable to replace a new one than to repair your power supply. Because even you repaired it the performance and the life span of your power supply is not stable. So it better to replace a new one.

Remove cmos battery and then replace it after 3 mins or so,
Try rebooting
If no luck, remove ram modules one at a time and retest
unplug all but hdd and power connector to mobo, cpu and hard drive and retest.

failing that, could be a surge of electricity has damaged your mobo

Hello,

Go to ASUS Downloads

Type your model into the box in the upper left. Click Search Info.

When the model number comes up in the large window, click on it.

You must then select your operating system from the drop-down menu.

A list of availble drivers will then be displayed for download.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Asus mobo flashes on startup, no video

You should unplug the power cord from the power supply, pop out the cmos battery, switch the bios reset jumper to the 2 and 3 pins, wait about a minute, put the jumper back to 1 and 2 pins, put cmos battery back in, plug in power cord to psu and turn on pc. If you have any issues with this process please refer to your owner manual for the motherboard or look one up on their website. Please let me know if this fixes your issue.

Can I use a SATA2 HDD for P5GL MX?

just like usb1 and 2, the sata2 harddrive will simply clock down to match the speeds of its port. the connections for both types are identical so there are no possibilities of problems...other then the motherboard saying "nope i cant read that", which most likely wont happen.
ohyeah...ram does the same thing too.
but honestly, if you're using a mobo thats only sata1 and you've got the dough for a new 1tb harddrive, you should consider upgrading your motherboard first...much better money spent

No boot up.

Power supply is easier to troubleshoot my local pc shop has used ones for $5 or if you have one laying around make sure you have one with the proper mobo connector 24pin will sometimes fit 20 pin as long as there are no transistors to close to plug just turn pc off unplug all drives and mobo plug in good supply and turn on if it works thats the problem if not probably mobo

My Asus mobo P5ld2 cant turn on

Did you try to unplug all AC Power; remove internal surface battery; and then jumper the 'reset' pins from 1-2 to 2-3 ? Leave in this state for about 5 minutes- then replace battery; re-jumper back to pins 1-2- replace AC power cord. Sometimes wiping out the BIOS setup information and restarting/re-setting it up will do the trick!
