Question about Oster 3072 20-Cup Rice Cooker
The Steamer bowl on my Oster 20-cup Digital Rice Cooker model 3071-33 falls into the unit when I try to use it. Am I doing something wrong? The bowl does not appear to be big enough to properly rest on the lip around the inner pot, however, it is too big to slide to the bottom of the pot. Is this defective? I'm about to return it unless I can figure out how it is supposed to work. Thanks!

SOURCE: Rice burning at bottom of cooker
I also have this problem and I fixed it by adding in a little more water and by removing the power cord from the outlet immediately after the cooker finishes it's cycle. Not ideal, but it does save my rice.

Rice cookers will only cook if you have enough water in it. If all the water has cooked out, then the cooker will turn off. Remember when you put your rice in the cooker, make sure you level it off. Then add twice as much water so that it will over cover the rice.

Sounds like the thermal switch is possibly going bad, This switch opens at a certain temperature and transitions the unit from cook to warm mode. These thermal devices cannot be calibrated, but can be replaced. It is located under the bottom cover and is flush mounted to the permanent cooking pan. It should be mounted with 2 screws and have 2 wire lugs connected to it. It is not a difficult part to change, but getting the information off the old one might be a challenge. Even then, you may not be able to find a direct replacement, but you should be able to find one close to the temperature range you need. I just replaced the one in my Oster 4724 and it cost me about $6.00 plus shipping.
Hope this helps and good luck.
