Well the fuse has very little to do with the process of heating the food. It merely completes a circuit between the wall and the power supplky of the unit.

Your problem may be that the Magnatron is dead ( expensive repair) or that the fail safe has engaged, whereupon the unit has overheated because of poor airflow and has invoked the isolator switch.

If this is so it will start when it has cooled ( 2-3hrs) Make sure thyere is a good airflow around the cabinet. Those built intpo cupboard hutches often fail from overheating.

M/waves can be picked up cheaply from pawn shops now rather than repairing. People trade up and sell ofd their perfectly good oloder modles. You can pick up a good one with 30n day warranty ( prechecked) FOR about $100.00. Whcih is a lot less than a new Magnatron.

Why does it keep running

I have a microwave at work that keeps running after the cook time because it uses the extra time to cool the food so it just spins around the food and the light is on. Check the user manual to see if this is the case with this particular microwave oven.

My LG-MS-2022G is coming on but will not warm the food, what should I do?

It's my understanding that aluminum foil can reflect the RF energy back into the magnetron and causing it to overload and fail. If the oven turns on but does not heat the food, you can just about bet the magnetron is shot.

It does not warm food

Hello :

Maybe it's the power transformer or power PCB or it could be just a fuse . Fuses are cheap and easy to be replaced . If it's the transformer or the PCB , then I recommend calling for repair .

good luck .

Microwave stop warming food

If the microwave still goes throught the motions but just doesn't warm then it may be an internal fuse, these are high rated fuses typically 5kv 8amp so only should be fitted by a qualified technician

Do not understand the use of the sensor

Dear ggold

I think you refer to the steam sensor. I,ll explain how it works with one of its uses. Say you want to reheat a plate of food. You can do this two ways. You can guess how much time it will take to warm the food, and maybe not heat it enough or overcook it which can ruin some foods. Or you can just press the "reheat" button. The oven will come on at full power and continue to operate until steam begins to rise from the plate. The oven then switches to a "countdown" mode until it determines the food is hot. Saves time and guesswork. Most modern ovens work like this. Since you dont give the make and model of your oven, this is the best I can do.

Spacemakerxl Microwave oven jvm1653 food dont get warm

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, DISCHARGE THE HIGH VOLTAGE CAPACITOR!!!!! Now that you have done thatCould be a few things, im a qualified tech and i get stuck with heaps microwaves with the same problem. It could either be the MAGNATRON or the HIGH VOLTAGE FUSE, but check with a multimeter on continuity(beep test) for any protective diodes (or any other diodes) that may be short.
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING TAKE IT TO SOMEONE WHO DOES, THE ''DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE'' ARE NOT THERE FoR FUN.!!!!
good luck.

Just so I understand, you replaced the fuse inside the oven? If so, I would suspect a bad thermostat attached to the magnetron. This device interrupts power when the unit gets too hot. I've included a representative photo. After so many years your magnetron may be bad, too. Once you get the oven working, if it cooks and doesn't trip the thermostat again, it may be okay. PLUS - It looks like this model has manual rotary controls. If so, it's common for those to develop bad contacts after so many years. I would consider that my third suspect. Those controls are called the thermostat (not to be confused with other part by that name that I discussed above) and the selector switch. One could easily be bad. You can check part prices at Sears online at http://www3.sears.com (the "3" is supposed to be there) Some other things that can cause a "dead" condition: - bad connections on the small circuit board where the fuse is mounted (if such a board is present) - bad connections in the wiring Good luck.
