1997 trx 250 honda.rewiring a new plug on the stator

1997 trx 250 honda.Im rewiring a new plug on the stator,all were color coded except for the 3 yellow wires coming out of the stator.Does it matter which yellow wire goes where? Without dismantling the stator, there isnt anyway to tell.3 solid yellow.The exciter coil and pulsar coil were color coded.The motor was on fire and burnt the plug so Im splicing in another wire and plug to the existing wires coming out of the stator.Im wondering if it matters since they were not color coded differently.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im guessing it does matter but Im hoping not so I do not have to take it all apart.Thanks

Hi the three yellow are all the same, they are the alternator wires, are connected to a common star point, so will not matter as long as they are going to the 3 yellow on the other side of the plug.
As a quick test of the stator, any pair of these yellow should produce the same resistance, none of them should have continuity to ground, and any pair with the engine running should produce similar AC voltage, maybe 40-50v

1985 Honda TRX. Why does it crank and run for a few minutes, then die?


Hi, David the following applies to carbureted also fuel injected models and the usual suspects are:
1. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, 9 volts or lower.
2. Failed alternator/generator and or voltage regulator.
3. Loose or corroded battery terminals and or cables especially the "NEGATIVE" cable, look for loose, corroded, or broken connectors inside the cable harness at "BOTH" ends.
4. Failed main circuit breaker or ignition switch, check for loose connections and continuity.
5. Failed system and or ignition relay, check for continuity.
6. Failed ignition coil, ignition/electronic module.
7. Failed CKP, CPS, CMP, MAP, TPS, or BAS sensor, corroded, loose or broken wire connector pins/sockets.
8. Throttle cables and or idle speed improperly adjusted hot idle speed should be 950 RPM to 1000 RPM.
9. Air/fuel mixture ***** improperly adjusted.
10. Water or dirt in the fuel system, carburetor or filter.
11. Restricted, blocked or kinked fuel line.
12. Fuel tank empty.
13. Gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
14. A failed fuel pump, pressure regulator and or fuel injectors.
15. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
16. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.

Hi, Jdebord if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in the head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

2005 trx honda 450r has a new stator now u might kick the motor over 2 times before it fires 1 or 2 times whats wrongs


have you checked the resistance on the plug cap isnt too much and are the wire connections clean etc ? carb clean etc ? timing ok ?

Bike has no spark 1978 xr250 honda


This can be one of five things,

1: The coil is bad
2: The cdi is bad
3: The stator
4: The stator pickup
5: Bad plug

Use a spark plug tester on the coil to test for current, if it doesn't have current to the plug work your way backwards toward the stator, testing each item for current in and out.

How do i remove stator on honda vtr 250


Remove the left side cover then the flywheel. Chances are you will need a flywheel puller. See the diagram below.

Rewire electrical loom


I wouldn't recommended running the bike on a dead battery, it is very hard on the stator and pulse coil. Chances are if you run with a dead battery for prolong periods of time they will fail.
Hope this helps with your decision.
